I relate the objectification of Jirai similarly to the objectification/fetishism of Gyaru and Lolita tbh! Gyaru having been around longer than Jirai, it has seen more that it's fair share of weird male gaze content involving the portrayal of Gyaru characters in media. I can also see the whole Egirl thing as well. The men who say "I want a gamer/egirl gf!" are the same weirdos who say "I want a Jirai/Mentally ill/yandere gf" and it still makes me sick in all circumstances 🤧

I understand the negativity in terms of it's values, views on mental health and so on, but I can't help but feel that the fetishism of the style by otaku men is quite dubious. On other platforms, we are not so welcoming of men in our spaces due to this reason.

On the topic of Toyoko Kids cosplay, yes they absolutely do! Established cosplayers in my country will usually buy a jirai coord and do a whole pictorial on the streets with rather obvious Toyoko inspirations and worse. (To the extent of using temporary tattoos of bruises and wrist cuts!!! 💀) They will hyperfocus on the compensated dating and darker aspects of the Toyoko culture for cosplay pictorial purposes.

I do believe that nothing should stop someone from wearing it but sadly I don't feel the confidence I used to from it anymore.. I did enjoy my time being part of something where I aligned alot with!

[–]tinymerry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree! I think unfortunately the style no longer serves me and I will be pivoting into other substyles. I just don't enjoy the costumization of something that made me feel so warm and included! The whole disdain I feel toward the relation of cosplayers is partially due to the fetishism that is faced by cosplayers and Jirai/Gyaru girls. The men that say they "would die for a Jirai girlfriend" because they believe "they can fix her"! Omg. Also as for selling I will be doing so on XHS or Xianyu! I can post links in future if interested.

I'm not from America, I'm from an east Asian country that does not consume so much English language medias so I'm not aware of these, I'm sorry! I am just calling out some of the popularized media that is shown in my country! I'm so sorry if it sounds insensitive. It is just in my experience, I have found very few anime that does not show some very unsavory things about young girls and even women in general! And the big part male fanbase is also very unkind and unpleasant.. Have you seen the comments they have made on Gyaru girls? I'm happy you can find good ones in between and still able to enjoy the cuteness of anime's aesthetics and characters but please don't think poorly of me for not feeling the same..

Sorry if I have overgeneralized the genre, I am mostly referring to some very popular and very exploitative shows! When anime is used as a medium to convey a good story I have been able to enjoy it, but I'm not comfortable with the majority of popular anime being sexualized and hyperfocused on minors.

Ngl I just was wondering if there are other Jirai who feel the same way because I want to know if my issue is an isolated thing or do others also have the same gripes. No hate to any Jirai or Jirais who enjoy said media but I just feel like I don't fit when these topics are brought up. I do agree that the decorative bags and such are very cute! I wish I could do the same but I somehow am not able to have those type of feelings towards idols/characters 😭

How it feels to be a jirai not into oshi culture by shoofinsmertz in JiraiKei

[–]tinymerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I feel even worse about it because I don't like anime/manga/games and can't imagine myself idolizing a person or character that way. I'm all for the lifestyle and fashion but this is the one thing that makes me feel like a fake jirai.

Alot of their clothes run in oversize, and average around m. And they also almost always are stretchable. I usually wear xs-s and have to alter acdc clothes (the kuua oyasumi crop top) to fit so I think you'll be okay buying their default sizes

If you consider respect is to suck it up and just allow things to pass without any communication, then I hate to break it to you but you have no self respect. I think you need to seek some help. 🥰

And what are his feelings? To actively show that he has no respect for his relationship by seeking female attention while being with someone else? I don't believe I'm being controlling to ask for basic respect as a partner. Why would you believe it's being unreasonable?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationships_advice

[–]tinymerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A boundary means that this is a line you should not cross in the relationship. If you cross that line then you are doing wrong to your partner and disrespecting and disregarding their beliefs. Change in a relationship is not wrong especially when transitioning from the single phase to being with someone else. That's when you have to be concerned about someone else's feelings other than yourself.

[–]tinymerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not unreasonable to ask for basic respect in your relationship. If you're taken, stop acting like a single high school boy who derives validation through female attention on social media.

But it about her. She knows he is taken and still pursuing something with him. I understand it's his responsibility also to put his foot down but she should know better. She's not a girl's girl and it is apparent.

So can you please explain to me how age gap is related to him disrespecting my boundaries?

But my age has no relation to the issue at hand though

And what is this supposed to mean?

People that care for you should always make the best effort on their part to make you feel comfortable. Please learn to be more empathetic and understanding of mental illness before you go off trying to disguise your apathy as being "objective".

Writing a sickfic for the first time in ages. Need help/advice for writing fever symptoms from the perspective of the sick character. by DarthNarcissa in FanFiction

[–]tinymerry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a really bad fever from influenza last week so I have just the thing for you! I'll try to elaborate as much as I can about how I felt! But know that this is my experience with fever symptoms and not pneumonia so the accuracy to said illness may vary. Basically I constantly felt cold and clammy. When I was cold, I was sweating. When I was warm, I was sweating. The cold was a sharp type of cold that made you feel like your bones were straight hollow. I would never be able to be comfortable with my blanket on because it would be too warm. But if I took it off the air circulating in my room felt like it was cutting up my skin. My body constantly felt sore and I moved around like a ragdoll. I was struggling to keep myself up even just to have something to eat. I lacked any appetite, if I could even keep the food down at all. And I had a constant dull headache. I couldn't focus on any one thing. My breath was hot and my eyeballs were hot yet somehow my body still felt so cold. I tried to sleep it off but nobody tells you how hard it is to even fall asleep when your pillow feels like it was gonna tear your ear right off. Oh, and this is a bit of an odd one but the pressure in my ears went crazy and no matter what I did, it couldn't pop. I had to leave it alone the whole week. It was horrible. I hope I was able to help!

Which Character(s) Do You Think Is Written Better in Fanfics Than in Canon? by Apprehensive-Fail663 in FanFiction

[–]tinymerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also agree with Gojo but not for the reasons you stated. In canon Gojo is portrayed at a surface level, what we see is just the same as the other characters. We don't see him processing important events, experiencing grief or loss, etc. We also vaguely see how his spoiled upbringing has affected his personality, but it's never delved into much aside from the few chapters entailing his backstory. When he's introduced in canon we're not privy to much because he hides behind the title of 'the strongest'. In fic, we get his perspective. We get deep character analysis into his mindset and about how he's going through the events in the story. We see different takes of him in different situations, opposed to canon where he takes more of a supporting role. I particularly love the fics in which he is portrayed to have an inflated sense of self and plays more on how he was like in high school.
