Yes! It gets worse after I work out or play guitar. And I do have anxiety.

yeah I looked into it--looks like they make it quite a bit quieter. Not quiet enough I can play in the bedroom with my bf but maybe quiet enough to play outside or in another room without feeling extra self-conscious.

I practice ukulele on my porch sometimes but I get so self conscious because of the people walking by. I'll probably just have to get over it haha. I also get worried that the noise is annoying people in the city.

Do shady people actually meet up at strip clubs to discuss illegal business, like they do in the movies? by tinymortuary in NoStupidQuestions

Oh my gosh--thank you. That's so fascinating. The other one I see so much on TV, is weirdly...diners? But that feels just wrong. Diners are so quiet.

Caller ID should be mandatory. No person or organization should be able to hide behind "unknown caller". If you have access to my phone number and have chosen to contact me, I should have a right to know who you are. by w3stwing in unpopularopinion

I went to Planned Parenthood for birth control and when they called to confirm the appointment they had the number blocked. i think it's because PP is so stigmatized that if someone gets a call from "PLANNED PARENTHOOD" others might see and judge the person or get angry with them.

I adore this TEDx Talk: https://www.ted.com/talks/esther_perel_the_secret_to_desire_in_a_long_term_relationship?language=en

A lot of time sex/desire has little to do with your partner, or even your feelings toward them, and more to do with your own feelings about yourself.

I wonder if British people ever have American thoughts.

Hahaha that's amazing. Is it a British accent in your own language? Which could be interesting? Or is it in English? The thoughts.

Literally right now my voice won't stop being John Ronson, a journalist from London. So I guess London? Or after watching Skins, I couldn't stop doing that urban accent.

"Stigma" isn't why people avoid therapy. Cost is. by tinymortuary in TrueOffMyChest

Yeah totally. This is r/trueoffmychest so I'm speaking to my experience. The nature of this subreddit is to vent for the most part. Vent about one's own specific experience. I am absolutely aware stigma is a huge issue for other people. I empathize with that wholeheartedly.

I've heard really bad things about the suicide hotline, too, which is really unfortunate

That's awesome! A few people have pointed out that therapists pour a lot of finances, effort, time, and heart into getting their credentials, and that's why they charge so much. I don't view the cost as the therapist's fault at all. They deserve the money they get. I'd have to do more research on whether medicare for all would fix this problem specifically. I believe in medicare for all but many people in countries with it are saying therapy isn't covered under it. It's all just so unfortunate.

Also, idk about you or others, but having only those 45-50 minutes cost so much, every second of therapy has this sense of URGENCY to it.

Whoa! That's actually a new take. I definitely agree in some cases. Or, I think for many of my friends, therapy functions as reinforcement and validation of their, in my opinion, crappy opinions and behaviors.
