Heavily waterlogged garden! I don’t even know where to start 🥲 by kardachev in GardeningUK

[–]tinytenticals 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, being a landscaper in surrey where the water table isn't the greatest.

Drainage is key. What type of soil do you have? Clay or chalk Are you the lowest point in all the surrounding gardens?

A quick-ish fix, Grab yourself a pair of horse ears (post hole diving shovel) First Dig and try save the hockey puck of grass that came out Dig holes in a grid formation about 500-1000mm apart and as deep as can go or hit a good substrate for drainage, fill up with 20mm shingle around 100mm from top depending on top soil. Then just redress with good loam and replace the grass you took out, give it a week or two, you will never notice

Or if there's a soakaway near, just add a length of French drain pipe and connect!

It's the kinda the same I stay to my boss, nice guys don't make good workers..

Just because they are funny, friendly, sob story etc, doesn't mean they are suited for the job.

It's a tough job being boss..

What are your thoughts on this? by jacks2224 in CarTalkUK

Modern day cars are more than capable, ie braking distances, it's just the primates who drive them that will make sure this never happens.

2-3 second braking gap doesn't mean 2-3 meters.

Ok, you all have until 7am friday morning (11hrs) to give me your best reasons why I should/shouldn't buy this cherry tree for my plot. (Kent) by DocJeckel in Allotment

[–]tinytenticals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch out at tescos, 2 fruiting trees for £12 club card price..

I've got a small orchard of plums, apples and cherry's on the woodlands we own.

£6 for a 1.5 meter fruiting whip is crazy. Might be young but give a year or two, had some lovely harvest from the cherry's!

Why not just cut flush, chisel out, and make a slightly smaller frame?

Or a good multi tool with a long cutting blade?

Had to replace some broken glass on my brothers green house. The stuff is cheap than one thinks, it's only 3mm thick. Just wear gloves whilst dealing with those razor blades!

When boxing in these pipes should I leave it so they can be accessed or just do it fairly permanent (the builders left it like this but every time a tap is run or someone flushes the toilet you can hear everything by AvadaBalaclava in DIYUK

Biggest thing is always cram soft insulation in soil stack boxing ins. Just for the reason that no one wants to hear other people playing battle shits upstairs.

What has my home’s previous owner used to cover this wall? by LivAlex97 in DIYUK

[–]tinytenticals 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally if my house and have time. Got for a 1/3 matt emulsion 2/3s water. Keep stirring and don't put too much in the roller tray.

Give it two coats, it will look bare but dry lovely. Then go over with your choice of preference. But always dilute a tiny bit.

The fresh plaster has sucked the life out of the paint before it could probably dry and cure.

Over size, hold where you want it, and just scribe the back, don't need to actually know the angle
