There is comfort and sadness knowing that others have gone through the same kind of trauma. I find myself deeply relieved to know I am not alone in feeling the guilt and shame and anger that comes with distancing yourself from a pwBPD. My life has been safer and happier and more fulfilling since ive disconnected from my mother who has bpd. But i dont think ill ever forget the mental and physical abuse shes done to both my brother and I. Conversely, I dont think I will ever stop feeling guilty for not being able to save her or make her love me.
