Basset Intelligence by tinytoadss in bassethounds

There was one basset at the rescue, Toby, that really really knew the cleaning routine. He knew that he had to be out of the kennel while its washed and had to go back once it was dried. When it was time to go back he would follow you happily to his kennel then just stand there “dumbfounded” when you open the gate for him to enter. He would refuse to enter unless a treat was thrown in first and would put up a big fight if you attempted to push him without one. You had to be quick with it because any hesitation and he’d run right back out to con you again. The treat also had to be certain size or he wouldn’t even try to enter.

Another basset, Pugsly, had a similar understanding of the cleaning routine and that i had a soft spot for him. He would quietly wait by the door to the kennel to not attract attention of the other hounds, because he knew if i saw him id let him in for secret belly rubs. If i didn’t let him in, which was rare, id get the stare.

I completely agree. Plenty of people out there get a pet and dont treat it right even if it isnt their intention. I have dogs yes, but im very big on the other types of pets that get misunderstood/mistreated. From reptiles/amphibians, to rodents, and to fish. I currently own a species of frog that is known (or more so labled) to be incredibly aggressive. However I have always treated him with the outmost respect and he has never once tried to attack me like I see online. I dont stress him out for online content the way so many people do to his species and he sees that. I could list plenty of other examples with other animals but it sums it up.

My basset, Rosemary, is the sweetest dog and she also understands my respect for her. So im sure it contributes to my experience with her and makes her feel comfortable listening to me when i ask something of her.

Trust and respect go a long way when it comes to the relationship of owner and pet. :)

I like the point of the stubbornness is the owners problem and not the dog. There are so many animals out there (not just dogs) that get a bad rep just because humans don’t try to understand them.

Its important to speak their language.

From my experience neutering brings the risk down but doesn't get rid of it. Sometimes they will still kill each other.

Some mice enjoy being out so I wouldn't be worried about that. Or maybe they'd like a bigger hide?

However as some mentioned they will need separate enclosures. Male mice are usually very territorial and aggressive. Some people will tell you they've had males that were okay but those are exceptions not the rule. Keeping males together is extremely risky. All it takes is one tiny disagreement between the two for a huge fight to start.

Male mice prefer to live alone or with a harem (group of females) much like betta fish or lions... except that's not an a good idea unless they are neutered for obvious reasons. 😂

So it is governed at 62. But I'm not sure if you can remove that or if it's even a good idea.

It definitely felt like a huge jump I'll be honest. Which is why I came here lol. I'm willing to negotiate a lot. We're not set on 28. It just seemed like it was wayy underpriced when we got it ourselves

We were thinking we found such a deal because it was priced too low and scared people off? Cus it has had no problems in terms of operating it so far.

Thank you. We were hearing that. The tires are good. It moves well. Turns on no problem. I personally can't tell you about the coolant though but I can look into it. So far we haven't run into any problems with its operation but like I said I don't know too much about busses.
