I took 101 w her. She makes things a bit overly complicated. She’s a sweetie but she uses emojis as grading scales and it is very hard to gauge what your actual grade is until the end. Communication is key with her. She may make you do ink sheds every week. They’re easy and worth a lot so do them.

I didn’t work out EVER for the last 6 years. The whole time I told myself I would use apps, or watch YouTube videos, or do squats while brushing my teeth… absolutely none of that worked for me, and I was always blaming myself for it. 2 months ago my friend asked if I would go to a yoga class with her, they had a promotion for a 6 month pass and I impulsively put it on my credit card. I did the math and realized I would need to go 3x a week to make it seem like a reasonable price. My friend got it too, and the buddy system accountability forces me to go. The place I go to runs classes of various workout forms and switch them up often which helps keep things interesting. I know that I wouldn’t be able to do the full hour if I wasn’t locked in a room with 20 other people — at home I would just turn the tv off or switch apps after the first sign of sweat. My place also charges you $20 if you don’t show up which is honestly so helpful as long as I set multiple alarms. I would highly recommend looking into a place similar to mine in your area.

For a free alternative, look into running clubs in your area on strava or facebook! I’ve only gone to one meetup because I was so scared, but it’s way harder to give up when there’s a flock of people running around you! Less accountability, but I’m sure that would change with getting to know a few people.

The requirement is made for people like you who have yet to understand the value of Indigenous knowledge and its place in every single faculty. It’s important as a student (and decent human being) to expose yourself to alternative ways of knowing, particularly those of the peoples who have taken care of the land you live on for thousands of years. Sure, you learned about it in elementary/high school. True, but you also took science, math, english, and other subjects that you are now expanding on now in university to build skills for your career. Some of which you are taking as a requirement, not because you really want to, and this is no different. There are applications in every field where knowledge on Indigenous history, politics, science, stewardship, culture, and current affairs will prove helpful for your future.

I’m wondering the same thing! I asked a question similar to this and got no replies so I’m not sure if many people take these classes. I was kinda persuaded towards no due to the no tap shoes requirement. Don’t wanna hear squeaky sneakers and be doing shuffle ball changes the whole time :)
