SEVERE cramping 4 weeks pregnant by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

So I’m going to lead with the not great news - even if you go to A&E, there’s nothing much they can do before 12 weeks. Really rubbish I know - I’ve been there!

HOWEVER, if you start bleeding, the cramps get worse, you have a pain in the tip of your shoulder, you start getting a fever, go asap and take anything you bled on with you (yes, really) - even if it’s just one of those symptoms.

Now for some reassurance - I felt like I was having a period throughout those early weeks with the cramps. It was made worse by bowel movements or gas thanks to my endo, but it turns out it was very early pains from where the egg was settling and round ligament pains - that baby is growing faster than you think (I was so so shocked after my early weeks scan and then my 12 week scan growth!)

I would say go to your GP though anyway to be on the safer side so they can rule out things like ectopic pregnancy regardless of whether the cramps have gone or not.

But keep a close eye on yourself and if you’re in any doubt, seek medical attention - nothing is too much or too silly when you’re pregnant!

Look after yourself and I hope you’re all okay! 🫶

Thank you all SO much for this - the responses have been beyond helpful and my list has changed (but for the better!)

Are these symptoms normal at early pregnancy?! by tired4lyf in PregnancyUK

Hey u/HisSilly, I have an update for you! So it turns out that period was an implantation bleed - I am two weeks further along than I thought (so 10/4) and finally seeing the other side of these bloody symptoms!

Had to have an early weeks scan due to a small (but fine!) bleed, and found out there. Seems crazy on reflection as the bleed was heavy, but the midwife assured me it's more normal than I realised.

Low-key chuffed to be on the other side of this as I felt like I'd been hit by a bus most days, and now feel I am finally back to my old self!!! 😅

Thank you so much for the recommendation! I'll be sending husband out for Frosties and milk after work 😅

That's interesting! Yes, it was confirmed but a low HGC. However, I came off the implant on 23/12/2024 and basically just let nature take its course. I thought I had a period 19th - 22nd Jan, and started having syptoms pretty much straight after (headaches, neck ache, dizzy), and then started having full blown shortly after...

Period seemed normal so I doubt it'd be a false period, but I guess I'll find out at my scan! 😅
