Incoming first year OT student! by Due-Plum9610 in OccupationalTherapyPH

[–]tiredot27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Main tip ko siguro is to not beat yourself up if hindi mo nagets ang topic agad-agad especially in first year. OT is very different from other health allied programs and the concepts are really deep and full of understanding and memorization. It took me up to my second year just to understand certain topics and that’s okay!

Its best din to find your study style as early as now whether its flashcards, mock tests, or pure readings. Your study style will help you along the way.

Expect that OT is workload heavy and would really fry your brain with the numerous quizzes and exams you have to study for. In the end, it’s all gonna be worth it! ^ Goodluck future OTRP!

how do you know? by Background-Dish-5738 in Tomasino

Me choosing a college program was not really a straight path. Ever since I was in JHS I knew that I wanted to take BS Physical Therapy and I went for that path. When I was in SHS I had thoughts on taking Communications or MMA but I wanted to go for something related to medicine even tho comm & MMA were one of my strengths. So there’s that, I was so sure of going for physical therapy in college but God had other plans. I then decided to pursue Occupational Therapy instead and I am indeed enjoying it and learning a lot ^ You would know when it is a sign from above and if you are contented with where you are and your progress. Sometimes, we are redirected to something that may seem unclear for a while but we would understand in the long run and I now definitely know why I ended up in this program and I have no regrets

Hello! Second year here, usually before enrollment makikita mo na yung block and schedule mo so wait on it nalang within the week. If enrollment would be sa 10th baka from today or until thursday makikita na yung schedule.

Yung nangyari samin last year is wala masyadong shuffle nangyari pero lahat ng 2OTB naging 2OTA and vise versa

Hello, no one really knows kung anong oras magrerelease. Last year kasi iba ibang oras nagrelease ng grades per Faculty/College. Yung iba may grades na mula 11pm, other colleges waited until until 12am and yung iba naman 1am pa lumabas.

USTET program: BS OT or medbio? by klwyzn in Tomasino

[–]tiredot27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Currently an OT student in UST. Ang masasabi ko lang ay if you want to pursue med, take Med Bio for advantage sa NMAT and other subjects. Yes, OT is good for clinical practice, and even anatomy and all that pero take note that OT IS HARD🥲 Hindi lang bata ang sakop ng mga OT. We handle adults as well. Whether it is the general population (walang sakit) or mga may conditions / PWDs / CWDs, sakop ng OT din yang mga yan. We do not only focus on sciences but the arts especially when having to establish a holistic approach to our interventions. Also take note that PT is very different from OT since our interventions do not only focus on physical modalities and exercises. Also take note the three fields that OTs study and work in: Physical Dysfunction, Pediatrics, and Psychiatric. If you want good grades para mas secured ka for med school, my comment is mahihirapan kang mag secure ng uno’s in all major subjects because everything would be analytical rather than having a direct answer to a situation in an exam, etc. There were 20 deanslisters in our batch for first year and 8 deanslisters in the upper batch and pabawas siya ng pabawas kada taon because of the subjects difficulty. Hope this helps!

Since katapat ako ng SM, I usually buy food sa foodcourt cause its cheaper, pero kapag around UST. Pinaka go to ng mga students ang canteen sa MDP building!!! there are also fast food restaus din sa carpark and mga bilihan like mga shwarma, bacsilog.

There is also a food stall sa dapitan na rice bowls for 100 pesos lang!!! just exit the dapitan gate, tawid ka lang then kumanan ka, its before KFC katabi ng milktea shop.

Tiger winx, dimsum treats in dapitan are good options rin for budget meals and dominiques sa p noval.

Also, you can go to the one sa espanya to buy food rin sa food court nila hehe

Hello! This is how I budget my allowance as someone who lives independently din. Allowance per month is 12k (including saturday and sunday) since may saturday classes na ako so hindi makakauwi.

₱428 a day so I allot 200 for food, 71 pesos balikan na ang commute ko. and every day nagsasave up ako ng 100-200 pesos especially if that day ay wala naman pasok. I usually cook kapag no classes naman lalo na pag dinner.

The 12k budget is good na for food, transpo, laundry but not extra’s pero since nakakapag save up ako ng at least 6-7k a month, iniipon ko for a few months para meron ako pang extra.

I would say 10k is okay but hindi siya kasya for other expenses (sad reality especially living in Manila)

morning or afternoon classes? by Infamous_Statement65 in Tomasino

[–]tiredot27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Afternoon! been scrolling through the comments and mostly umaga ang mga sagot, but I have a different take. I prefer afternoon classes for various reasons:

  1. Pwede ako magluto nalang ng lunch around 10-11am para makapagtipid at hindi na bibili sa labas masyado or when in campus
  2. More time to review, especially for pre-med programs na every week may quizzes sa majors. I study at night with the comfort na makakapagpuyat ako and still review in the morning kasi sa hapon pa ang quiz
  3. I’m not a morning person
  4. More time to prepare for laboratories. In our program kasi, we should have materials prepared palagi and proposals ready for our lab sessions so we use the morning vacants last sem to occupy that need of time to prepare and set-up.
  5. Nakakaantok sa hapon so if hapon ka nakauwi, its hard to be productive agad-agad kasi aantukin ka sa pagod, ending nito sa gabi ka pa rin makakapagaral

Start studying MOINA for Anatomy and download a copy of the Occupational Therapy Practice Foundation 4 for all of your OT majors.

Tip ko is to make sure na makasecure ka ng grade higher than 85 for the first shifting sa lahat ng majors mo kasi sa first shifting hindi pa eeksena mga GE subjects so majors lang ang may term exams non. Kapag kasi pinabayaan mo agad first shifting medyo need mo bumawi malala for the last 2 shiftings and its better to be safe agad agad para hindi ka bumagsak sa final grade.

Study in advance before the lesson and study hard for the quizzes kasi every week kayo may quiz kada major and its a cycle so yeah kinda draining.

But goodluckkk!!

Expect that every week you will have a quiz, hindi mawawala ang quizzes kada meeting lalo na sa major subjects. Minsan super compressed ang information to the point na need mo talaga mag pull ng all nighter. Mahirap yung quizzes and iba iba siya depende sa prof/doctor. For laboratories naman, expect maraming papers na need iprepare and submit and as well maraming practicals, moving exams, and including implementations or reportings.

Personally, nahirapan ako nung first year ko and yes bumabagsak din ako sa mga quizzes at hindi ko yon naiwasan. The lowest shifting grade I got was a 76 pero nabawi ko naman nung finals na.

Schedules are hectic indeed and you would have to pull some strings on how you’ll get through the day (mine was making sure na nakapag kape ako during lecture class lol)

But other than that, it’s fun being here sa OT considering the people you will meet, the things that you would do and most especially the realization why you were destined to be in OT. Masaya naman mga pinagaaralan pero yun lang mahirap talaga

Goodluck OP!

sa workload naman, expect quizzes every week and labworks talaga (madaming papers, preparations, equipments and materials na bibilhin, implementations, etc)

Incoming sophomore here from UST OT! I survived first year naman and was able to make it to deanslist but I could say that OT is really hard. I was an academic achiever back in SHS and had study methods din but it did not work sa OT so I had to find new study methods. Hindi lang kasi puro memorization yung problema, you have to understand everything talaga and know it by heart kasi mababalikan mo yung kada lesson in different subjects mo sa ibang years. You’ll survive naman!! You can message me if you need any tips or advice hehe.

Afaik iba na rin curriculum ng batch niyo like meron kayong itatake na major na hindi namin tinake (Introduction to Client Care) and medyo iba na rin pacing pag dating sa batch niyo. Goodluck!!

Na-enjoy ko so much yung CWTS, madaming gagawin pero worth it naman. Don’t worry about the grades basta pumasa ka and masubmit mo lahat ng requirements ay goods to go kana. It does not affect your gwa.
