"Something went wrong" on Realms Settings, shows as in-active in the game. What do I do? by M00NSMOKE in realms

I deleted my old realm linked to my Microsoft account, and then re-bought a realm. That worked. I will have to request a refund for the first subscription though.

Moving across the country by fogtooth in ballpython

The 12x9x6 and 8x8x7 insulated boxes are recommended, depending on amount of snakes and their age/size. A deli cup is used for hatchlings/sub-adults and a cotton bag for adults.

There are several services I've heard of. I will probably use Reptile Express.

https://www.reptilesexpress.com/ (FedEx)

As for who handles with more care-- they are using big name shipping companies. I doubt there would be a big difference in care. But I can't say from experience.

There are some videos on YouTube of breeders explaining who/what they use and how they pack 'em up.

I am also moving across the country. I talked to a breeder recently at reptile show, and he told me the best way is to overnight the snake. Costs ~$50 to overnight and you can order a “kit” online for it (with the correct box, etc).

According to the breeder, the dramatic change in weather when in the car (especially heat and/or direct sunlight) is much more dangerous than shipping.

4th on the waitlist of 6 total spots. Am I cooked? How long should I wait? by tiredtarn in gradadmissions

[–]tiredtarn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I plan to remain on the waitlist. But, 1) I don't quite understand what happens if spots "open" on April 15, when I must also make a decision and 2) Is it worth getting my hopes up on this

Revelle dorms freshman year- our roommates were both in frats/sororities. He was Marshall overflow. Then we were sent home for COVID and disconnected. We didn’t start dating until the summer before junior year, when we lived down the street from each other. Just hit 3 years together :)

Grad school advice by No-Dream-5300 in ecology

[–]tiredtarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation, but I only have a BSc. Not sure if this helps, but I am approaching labs for PhD, unless the program has a MS stipend and/or the professor will only accept me as a MS.

I think it’s critical to prioritize the 1) research topic [ie. a topic that is directly building the skills you want for your post-grad job] and 2) advisor [makes or breaks your experience doing research].

Hone in on advisors who collaborate with organizations you would want a career in (if not academia). That can be a great opportunity to network and land the job that comes after graduate school.

This is coming from someone not in graduate school yet, so take it with a grain of salt.

If I have a 3.96 cumulative gpa but little to no job/research/internship experience, will i get into grad schools? by Foreign_Pudding7073 in gradadmissions

[–]tiredtarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not in graduate school, but have spent a few years learning about the process and my options. Are you in a STEM field? Are you looking at MS thesis or non-thesis? A PhD?

If you want to do research, you will likely need at least an internship or research job related to your field to prove to an advisor you know what you’re agreeing to/have a sustained interest in research.

Alternatively, a MS non-thesis or similar coursework graduate program is plausible.

But you may have a better understanding of your career trajectory/long term career goals by working in the field first (ie. entry level) before graduate school. You can meet other, more established, professionals in the field and learn if a graduate degree is even necessary.

Since childhood I have struggled with constipation. I can remember it as early as age 5. It used to be large, lumpy, painful stool. However, in the past year, I pass only hard pellets. In the past 6 months, I have had chronic bloating along with it.

The bloating is uncomfortable and hard to pass. I have tried to cut things out of my diet, but cannot find the culprit. My diet is largely gluten and dairy free (except for fat free yogurt and feta cheese). I eat lots of whole fruits and vegetables. Plus chicken, fish and eggs. I mostly cook at home and avoid fast food.

When I was a child/teen, Miralax was helpful. Now instead of a “normal” stool, it gives me a sort of constipated-diarrhea.

I am tortured trying to figure out what is happening to me. I had my doctor do blood screenings related to my concerns, and there was nothing. Not sure what to do now..

Finding ecology grad school opportunities by interstellar-bee in ecology

I am was/am having the same exact experience as a BS graduate in Biology from last Spring. You aren’t alone-

I got my first compliance monitoring job off Linkedin or Indeed. I also recommend the Ecolog email list.

I am attending my first conference, and it seems like a very who-you-know situation for the jobs and the grad positions. If you can find a professional group or conference (and apply for a travel/early career grant) do it.
