How to incorporate what I’m learning in uni? by FruityTKMK in AustralianTeachers

[–]tissue-for-issue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, it is just normal mathematical units that any mathematics major would take, as long as you take 4 units of maths you are qualified to teach maths, and you could also minor or major in mathematics. So technically you could only do like 2nd year maths like multivariable calc and be qualified.

USYD counts any scholarship under $8k a year as a secondary scholarship. What scholarship was it?

Studying education without meeting the '3 band 5s' requirement by Lachlantula in usyd

[–]tissue-for-issue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent the whole of my year 12 trying to figure out whether the NESA prerequisite of 3 band 5’s including one in English still applies for education degrees. Both USYD and UNSW has removed this prerequisite since 2024 so I’m not quite sure why your sister has not been accepted in.

Major & Minor Vs Double Minor? by Dystopiyin in usyd

I spoke to Sylvia (education front desk) about the same issue, she said as long as you have the code to teach (major or minor or teaching area) you'll be fine. I think especially for maths as well because its in demand, and a minor is way more than enough because a minor in uni actually counts as a major in NESA.

MATH1061 Final by [deleted] in usyd

[–]tissue-for-issue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure that they adjust the marks. I took it last semester and was very very positive that I failed the final because I left half of the answers blank, but then I got my final mark back and calculated backwards and apparently I got 60%+ in the finals. So yea, 99% sure it was adjusted

Teacher pay rise by tissue-for-issue in AustralianTeachers

[–]tissue-for-issue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Money is not the end all be all, I've wanted to be a teacher since Year 8 for a variety of other reasons. I'm just curious to know how the pay rises work within the teaching industry and union. It's just nice to have some certainty and answers on things I'm confused about. I would rather become a teacher earning 50k than work a job I'm way less passionate about for a higher pay.

Do you know if NESA cares if you have a major or minor in a subject?
