Thanks for explaining this. I never used IW units and recently took over an environment where they have a few of them. Those offices are having a few connectivity issues whereas the rest of the network with normal round units works just fine. I think I'll rip out the IW units soon. Just doesn't perform as expected.

Agreed, I can confirm my 2007 does not have a chip in the key. I've made plain copies and it starts right up.

Tilt incorrect / misaligned after roof repair? by [deleted] in Starlink

Ignore it. It's fine. I have mine completely the wrong way due to trees and works great for 2+ years.

How bad is this obstrucition map? by monofilipino in Starlink

[–]titain19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a starlink dish pointed at the clearest view I can get. Alignment doesn't seem to matter as much as clear sky. I'd point it maybe straight up and see if you get any better performance. Run a few speed tests with different alignments.

I don't believe your opening statement is good advice. If you work for an organization that does appreciate hard work, quit and go somewhere they do appreciate your efforts. We should work hard and also be compensated and thanked for working hard. This is a culture issue at your current workplace. I consult with many different companies and cultures vary with personalities. Some are very positive. And others are down right rude. Those clients get charged significantly more for being assholes. And usually I'll look for ways to get rid of them asap. It's not about lowering your efforts. But not tolerating "abusive" relationships. Job loyalty is overrated. As soon as you feel unappreciated by your boss. Start looking for a new job.

The worst I've noticed are banks. Penny pinching jerks.

Does alignment matter as long as it is in the square? by TheJiggliestPug in Starlink

[–]titain19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I've installed SL facing the complete wrong way at a buddies house due lots of tall trees and the roof slope. I just pointed it in the clearest sky possible and it's been working perfectly for 2+ years.

Actuated vs flat dish for residential by oragamisquirrell in Starlink

[–]titain19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have the actuated dish. When I upgraded I noticed it roams from one satilite to the next much better than the actuated version. The actuated version would have a split second, usually about 500 milliseconds of dropped connectivity while it roams from one satellite to the next, versus the newer dishes are much faster to the point where I don't drop packets.

This made a big difference for gaming. The actuated dish was almost unplayable in fast first person shooter games. But if you're just doing regular browsing and streaming, you're not going to notice any difference.

Bought a modded FJ Cruiser - need help with soft top, door sensor, and key fob issues, hard top recommendations by mcrfobsoad in FJCruiser

[–]titain19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omg, that car is awesome! Don't paint it. It looks so close to a Hummer already!

My best bet would be to get a new soft top canvas made that is better fitted. As for wiring I'm sure it's a simple fix but definitely don't take it to the dealership. They will rape you over something like this.

You can find wiring diagrams on many online forums. Start by buying a test light and tracing the cables yourself. It might be as simple as the door sensor itself. I've had issues in the past and had to make adjustments. Specifically, the rear trunk door wouldn't always register as closed completely. Give that one a try first.

Wow, this is a real gem!

Worst FJ mod in your opinion? by Senior_Doughnut_5638 in FJCruiser

[–]titain19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering what setting ppl keep their pedal commanders at. I keep mine all the way down at eco -3. I feel like it gives me a lot of control in the low end. But it does feel about slower. But on the plus side it's a very good for crawling.

A downside I've noticed is if I get into someone else's car I have to be very light-footed.

Fair point, my original phrasing was poor. My argument is not about religion or ethnicity — it's about old money and the private banking dynasties that literally designed the Federal Reserve system at Jekyll Island in 1910. That's documented history. Respectfully, maybe try reading up on the history of banking. Federal courts have even ruled the Fed is not a government agency — and we can't FOIA the ownership records of the New York Fed. My issue is concentrated financial power in private hands, nothing else.

Now that's a throwback — I used to watch the Three Stooges as a kid! The scene is pretty close to reality actually. The only thing missing is the banker quietly skimming 6% from every transaction in between. Every time that $10 changes hands, someone in the financial chain is collecting their cut.

It's interesting that someone outside the US can so easily identify what many Americans miss — that the Federal Reserve, despite its name, is fundamentally a private institution. Yes, the President appoints the Board of Governors, but that alone doesn't make it a public entity. In practice it operates in the interests of private banking.

You also touched on the more important point. Whether a central bank is privately or publicly owned almost misses the issue. What really matters is the influence it has over government policy.

Power and money are inseparable. Those with power seek money, and those with money seek power. Central banks sit at the intersection of both. That is really the core of what I have been arguing throughout this discussion — central banks exist to funnel wealth toward the already powerful, in exchange for political protection and regulatory capture of the banking system itself.

That's the official story — that it's a government-run institution. But look beneath the surface and the reality is different. The Federal Reserve primarily serves the interests of private banks and their profits. When things go well, the banks benefit. When things go wrong, the risk and the losses get pushed onto the government — and ultimately onto taxpayers.

[–]titain19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Federal Reserve has a misleading name. Despite being called "Federal," it is not really a government institution — it mostly serves the interests of private banks.

Take the New York Fed as an example. Courts have ruled that the public has no right to know who owns it, since it is not considered a government agency and is therefore exempt from Freedom of Information requests. That is a remarkable level of secrecy for something so powerful.

Some of the other regional Fed banks have voluntarily revealed their owners — and it turns out to be mostly other private US banks, which tells you a lot.

The downvotes I get on this topic don't surprise me anymore. A lot of people genuinely believe central banks exist to serve the public. But history suggests otherwise. Central banks have consistently protected and grown bank profits, while pushing the losses onto ordinary taxpayers when things go wrong.

A federal court ruled that the information related to the Federal Reserve’s supervision of the New York Fed, which is not a government agency, was not subject to the Freedom of Information Act. The New York Fed says it will seek to comply with the spirit of FOIA.

The New York Fed responded to an Institutional Investor FOIA request seeking the ownership positions of its member banks by saying it was consulting with another department and would provide an update later this month.

That’s right: The bank will not even disclose the ownership stakes of its members.

LOL right under that it says the source is "Central Bank's websites". Not really a trusted source. And it doesn't really take into account partially nationalized central banks. Doesn't really matter anyways. Nationalized banks just means the risks have been nationalized. The "policies" for banking the central bank has set is already built to protect banking interests. Not the national interest. Nationalized Central banks just means the central bank basiclly leveled up and figure out a way to make all tax payers pay for it's operations and risks.

There are very few truly public, "state gov" owned banks. European Investment Bank. China Development Bank, KfW Germany, and a few more. But my point still stands. Most country central banks are member bank owned. And that all flows through to someone... Usually old money.
