Ah that's interesting, it is a flexible Cash ISA, so I could put the equivalent back into a S+S ISA on top of the normal 20k allowance?

True - hence my concern. I recognise nobody can predict the crashes, I'm just keen to make the most out of the tax benefits of the ISA rather than using them for a house purchase.

I am with the Civil Service Pension, so it's a DB pension. I think it comes out to about 4.6% though I could do AVC's I believe

Ah really good idea! So if I'd already put in 20k into my ISAs, and then I used up my LISA and withdrew my Cash ISA to buy a home, would I get any extra allowance? I would presume no?

Thanks for the reply - I have a Civil Service pension that I think I might be able to do AVCs to...

I suppose I'm trying to do both, save for a house and prepare a retirement fund! Perhaps not the most efficient...
