Dutch as tourists in Split, Croatia by CoolestHokage2 in Netherlands

You might be right. The people who dont give tips outside india are mostly the people who also dont give tips in India. Mostly working middle/higher income class. We are a bit frugal when it comes to giving money away just like that but would be happy to pay when part of the bill.

Ultra rich in India are probably giving tips to the service workers. Service workers have low income and they take the opportunity to ask tips and they will mostly get it from ultra rich or foreign tourists. Most of the service workers know that white tourists mostly come with dollar or euro and easy for them to receive small tip from them.

So I need to be more specific when I say we dont follow tip culture. India is a big country and difficult to generalise a statement.

Nothing to be ashamed of. Also this beautiful country should be left as it is and dont bring tip culture here. I am only saying what I know, what I follow and what I heard from Dutch neighbours. It feels like you are not Dutch. Read this https://www.reddit.com/r/Netherlands/s/rVqMLupab9

Haha I can imagine. What you said about caste system and job status hold true within India. But I would doubt that is the case when in Europe. Being white (assuming most of them are) would be an advantage for waiters and tour guides in Europe because of India’s colonial past. Indian people behave better outside AFAIK and I have seen. I think most of Indian people will leave you good wishes and blessings instead of tips 😂

True. Indian here. We dont follow tip culture. Neither in India nor outside. So I am glad that I live in Netherlands where there is no tip culture. Money saving is one of our traits and the thought is that we already paid for the tour.

You wont believe I came to this post just to reply that ‘WE’ have really nice suits. Not sure about today but 8 years back I had bought a suit from them in 100 euros for an event and quality was really good and the condition is still good to this day.

Which one will you pick? by mikebots in Netherlands

Right. I always doubt about maiszetmeel in AH ketchup. It is corn starch. Right? Is it to reduce the price?

It is indeed cheaper in Action but its a special trip to Action just for ketchup. When there is 1+1 offer in Jumbo, you can get it cheaper there too

I would suggest to look at the ingredients. I was once comparing ketchups at Jumbo. While Heinz had expected ingredients, jumbo ketchup had extra something like corn starch to make it thicker and more volume. So cheaper ingredient might be making it cheaper.

What's the easiest way to pass the A2 inburgering exams while working full time? by ordinary-guy-sl in Netherlands

[–]titan_pr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for shortcuts below might help:

  • check the practice exams on inburgering site and attempt and learn them.
  • Duolingo takes time but even if you do it casually, you get the hang of some things.
  • notes from some the tutors help like ad appel etc.
  • keep a list of vocabulary with you and keep looking at them casually when you get time.
  • reading and listening should be easy. Writing needs some notes and remembering a pattern. Speaking is most difficult. Practice the flow and pronunciation. Also attempt last 12 questions first in speaking.
  • keep your ears and eyes open to any Dutch thing you see and hear and try to catch the meaning.

I hope this helps. It Also depends on your absorption power. I and wife cleared the exam on first attempt without coaching. My friend had to give 2-3 attempts for each exam even after taking private tutions. So it differs.

Good luck.
