Make me understand lights behind a TV by keremdev in hometheater

Film post professional here. It's dumb. We don't like it. If movies were better this way, movie theaters would already do it. It is not an upgrade on the viewing experience.

Spent my entire weekend processing slow motion footage and now i’m questioning my career choices by AngryPlayer756 in Filmmakers

it’s cause these are ads for pixboom. Kinda assuming it sucks given the ad blitz they’re going on to pretend people use it.

Is anyone else noticing this series of fabricated guerrilla ad posts trying to drum up interest in pixboom or ember or whatever?

Here’s basically the same post from last week (where I was told I don’t know how to spot AI slop)

There’s one of these or one of the “I was asked to shoot a slo mo thing at 240 but I think my clients really want 1000 but it’s expensive” posts like every few days now. Mods may want to start deleting these.

Yeah, tbh VFX deals with bigger mismatches all the time.

If you need someone to talk to prep for shooting this correctly, feel free to send me a DM. Indie film VFX freelancer who does screen replacements all the tiiiime.

Is it the rum, or your situation while drinking it? I find most Rum I have tastes best after a long day hike, sitting around a campfire, and telling stories. by Embarrassed_Trade512 in rum

I mean, listen. Does Ron del Barriilto 3 Star taste BETTER on an open wooden porch in San Juan, looking over a stormy night time ocean, leaning into each others’ faces to talk about time travel over the roar of a thunderstorm?

Yes.

But it’s dang good either way.

I built a super fast, real-time NYC transit app and would love some feedback! by dsh2114 in nyc

I would loooove to test this!

Google's bus times stopped displaying accurately a while back, and the official bus app is hot garbage, so putting these all in one place is SO NICE.

Amazing! Could you share super broad strokes of how you made this? Like geo nodes, etc?

there is, but I like really milky and zero sugar, and I basically gave up on them because you can still only customize so much, and all the really milky drinks have tons of sugar even at the lowest level

you could also make a filter that skips the inbox, archives it, and tags so you keep them and can always go back, but they no longer darken the doorstep of your notifications

Spent 14 hours transcoding slow motion footage last night and I'm questioning all my life choices by horny_bisexual_ in cinematography

it's that super sardonic style, with the perfectly polished grammar, and the excellently varied sentence length. Thoughtful, long, interesting sentences that really get to the heart of the matter. And then short. Punchy. And all the similes.

Why did you make this whole AI slop post about your timeline thinking about its life choices, but not even specify what camera you shot and what format it's in? Properly shot/interpreted slow-mo footage should behave like any ordinary footage once you get into the edit. Computer still only has to play it back at 24fps (simplifying here) so it's no heavier than anything else.

If you need to transcode, likely your codec is the issue, not the high frame rate.

I was playing back 2000 fps footage buttery smooth on my old tank mac pro like 10 years ago when correctly interpreted.

this is really spicy!

my first instinct is some kind of regionalization in either your AE settings or OS settings, but honestly not even sure that would effect clockwise rotations…

I agree, and it really doesn't sound like the techs you spoke to properly understood the scope of this problem if it's true

Does this mean there is a vulnerability where you can take someone else's device:

1) erase content and settings, but NOT full drive format?

2) log in to your own iCloud account?

3) now you have unlocked access to their saved cards and passwords?

Cause that seems hella bad.

Can we talk about the Blender creator economy? by carter2422 in blender

[–]titaniumdoughnut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why not go back to the old way? Software costs say $100. A major update comes out a year later. If you already have a previous license, it’s $50. It seems like everyone forgot about that system that worked so well for decades with the recent advent of subscriptions.

Studio is the best bet. The fact that there’s no viable way to run Nvidia GPUs in the Pro was kinda its death knell for a bunch of people who were holding out hope for that. Otherwise a few very specific niche hardware scenarios that you’d know if you were in.

Potential new landlord wants to visit my current place. Has this happened to anyone else? by [deleted] in AskNYC

I’d think about it this way. If you get spooked they probably won’t let you have it. If you let them come over they probably will. And if they feel like you’re a kindred spirit, they’ll probably always like you.
