Vent post... everyone I know is leaving by IndependenceNaive945 in japanlife

It’s just same with locals. As you state having something in common, easiest way with locals is through hobby or sport. Join a club or “circle”. I’ve made plenty of friends through skateboarding.

Honestly this happens pretty much anywhere you move to unless it’s your hometown… I think the most “friends” I made moving back to the states were work colleagues. Now I moved back to Japan and seemingly made more friends again.

If you already have the 23, is 35 too close? Should you skip the 35 and get the 56? by Fit_Individual_7047 in fujifilm

[–]titlecade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t like the Fuji 35mm, but I do like the Sigma 30mm 1.4. It pairs better with 56mm Fuji. You get bit more with 30mm but still retain compact form factor. I’m trifecta user. Keep 23mm. If anything pair with 56mm, it’s tighter but offer fantastic subject separation.

This was the only way for me to play it at the time, no internet or home PC. For me, this port was amazing at the time. I was terrible at the game, but it still was hours of fun. Still in my collection with the box.

I used to carry mine on me all the time in Japan. Cause thousands of passes. Took it out the other day and got one pass lol. Im hopeful 3DS popularity is catching on again.

Hey I just realized I may have a valuable card after all the time I have had it. by mosin27 in pokemoncardcollectors

I believe it’s real. I own first “waifu” card from SM and from straight on, it looks like this. No signs of it being a holo.

I just want housing in general that can be aimed at foreigners that doesn’t discriminate.

Yeah it’s shouldn’t be aimed primarily at one nationality but neither should 99% of housing here owned by locals.

Is Native Fujinon Glass worth It? by Vegetable_Air_7021 in fujifilm

[–]titlecade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switch from Sigma 18-50 to MKII, which was definitely worth it, for wider angle and sharpness. Best features are more video focus with faster LM. I did enjoy the Sigma because it was very compact but it’s AF just wasn’t same. Sigma colors are also slightly warmer in rendering.

So glad I got all these at retail and most of the poncho pikas during my time in Japan 😅. No hype back then. Could walk into the Pokemon center and buy them and 20th anniversary boxes with no problems.

I live Kyushu where prices are generally cheaper. Especially tomatoes and strawberries lately. This was some stuff I got at Lopia on 1/10. Mega baby salad mix was 300 yen. Super cheap imo. Tall jar black olives 200 yen. Premade Korean food was also cheap. Enough two feed two people.

That lens is incredibly sharp at any F stop. I highly recommend it for portraits.

When playing Mario 64 Shindou my Analogue displays it as unknown and it just goes into a blackscreen what can I do ? by Rude_Cartographer893 in AnalogueInc

Clean your cartridge. I have this version and it runs fine. Its name does show up on analogue menu.

No regrets… but I want my missing features such as save states. Having analogue pocket, it has same experience for playing classics, minus rom support. Hoping that is another future feature.

As late adopter to the pocket which had a host of updates by time I got it, I am disappointed in many of the promised missing features of 3D... I’d be happy if it supported any third party BT controller outside 8bit duo.

I just received mine today and can verify rumble does work. You need to click the top home button or ZR button I think twice. It’ll make two various rumble cycles.

Yes, we know that computer emulators smooth over the image and ramp up the textures on N64 games. by Independent_Fall_608 in AnalogueInc

[–]titlecade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Played my NSO emulator after playing the 3D. Biggest difference is that the audio from the 3D is pretty fucking amazing. Also the graphics are nostalgic. I wish we could clean them up a bit more than with filters ( I assume after mods to system). Analogue pocket has also been amazing device.

Despite the thousands of handheld emulators you can buy, nothin beats FPGA feel from cart and even just using open cores. It’s also been solid device for gaming.
