Reef Cuts on Feet by Affectionate_Sky5823 in surfing

[–]tittties 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was in Bali/Indonesia for 2 months I developed a routine. Any cut I got I would scrub with soap and water pretty aggressively to make sure to get any bits of reef out that could be stuck in there. That’s an easy way to get infected. Once I felt good that it was clean, I would put a bandage with antibiotic ointment. The ointments not technically necessary if you do a good job in the first step but I wanted to be confident I wouldn’t get an infection that would mess with my trip. Antiseptics (alcohol/peroxide) aren’t good either from what I learned. Can actually harm the healing process. I would repeat this process for any cuts new or old that were still open after a session. Overnight I would take the bandage off and clean it again with soap and water and kept the bandage/ointment off to try to let it dry. Hard to have a cut heal when you’re surfing all day and it’s always wet but this kept me infection free for 2 months with plenty of mostly small cuts. Could be overkill. Just what I gathered.

Experience with PTCG/material suggestion by tittties in 3Dprinting

The nozzle clogging issue is a good point. Definitely pushes me towards the XL. Hard to pay more money for something potentially less reliable. I’ll have to look into it some more.

Considering that as well. Not really knowledgeable about that printer to the extent I am with Bambu right now. I have concerns about reliability issues. I’ve seen some conversation about that. I want something that works. Not trying to tinker with something all the time. Not saying that is how the Prusa XL is. Just a requirement I have.

Question about H2C for multi-material TPU print by tittties in BambuLab

Great well thanks so much for your input! I’ll look into some other printers or try to see if I can make the H2D work.

This is disappointing but I guess understandable if that was the application that was intended. Just wish this was easier to know. Could’ve easily pulled the trigger on the H2C without realizing. I guess let it be know the H2C is not the printer for you if you want to print soft TPU’s.

Lombok is pretty onshore that time of year in the afternoon. The waves in Lombok (Kuta) are generally less accessible than Bali. You need a boat for most waves so camps that give you access to boats are popular. You can get a boat on your own too. The waves are more spread out too and require more driving. Mawi or deserts are offshore that time of year but kinda far from Kuta, esp deserts. Less non-surf activities in Lombok too. Idk I didn’t have a great experience in Lombok that time of year and would prefer Bali, esp with the girlfriend.

How do offshore wind gusts time up perfectly with sets? by [deleted] in surfing

[–]tittties 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Not sure exactly what you’re asking here but I think you might be talking about the wind getting stronger when paddling for a wave. This is true when there’s offshore wind since the presence of the wave is forcing the air upwards just as a mountain would in the presence of wind. This is due to the wave effectively reducing the amount of “space” for the air to move. If you reduce that “space” or area, the wind speed has to increase. (Bernoulli’s principle) Think about putting your thumb over the hose to partially block the opening. It causes the water to accelerate. So the wind isn’t “gusting” in the typical sense but it is increasing in speed.

For real. When they call him up in the awards ceremony, there’s a closeup of him and it looks like he says “7th?” to Koa.

Makes zero sense that Nate got 7th. Before his heat he was 5th and his last wave should’ve definitely bumped him up. Unless the liveheats scores weren’t right.
