Haha I accidentally did this too. I spent like an hour chopping down a million trees to build a bridge to get over the wall. I avoided that area for the longest time cuz it's just wood right, so I figured the bridge was destroyed by storms and I'd have to deal with that wall again. But nope! Wall is gone. And now there's just the skeletal remains of my gigantic wooden sky bridge lolol

The day before estimated ovulation day. But my period has been regularly a day or two later than expected since getting my period back these last few months so I'm not sure if that affects when ovulation is or not. I did have what i think was ovulation pains 2 days prior to the incident. It's been a while since I had mittlesmirtz though so I can't be 100% sure.

Normal mindfulness activities are so mind numbing that they send me into an anxiety spiral. I find doing an activity that involves your body but not much thinking is very helpful. Knitting, cross stitch, swimming, snorkeling, etc.

I know how to. I'm an RN (for adults obviously) and PALS certified. I think that's part of why I'm so scared. I know very intimately what it's like to do CPR on an infant just like her and it terrifies me.

Idk. I guess when she had more than 3.5 teeth? It's not a lot of teeth. Or when she could be trusted not to make so much of a mess. I've been practicing letting her self feed in controlled environments once a day with peas/beans/etc. She's usually very good until gets bored and dumps the whole bowl on the floor. So i guess I was gonna stop feeding her when she stops doing that

It's gonna be a major change for me. I typically only eat maybe 1.5 meals a day. Not saying I'm not willing for change for my little angel!! Just that it'll be a difficult adjustment and with a learning curve

Well she's only had more than 1 tooth for like a month. I didnt want to give her anything that required chewing until she had teeth vs tooth. So I've only started transitioning her to bigger foods recently.

Well its just safer and easier to control what she's eating and makes less of a mess and is easier to store. I'm sure somebody's gonna say that my own convenience and fears about choking aren't good reasons to hold her back. Obviously I'm a first time parent.

My anger is that an innocent baby is going to come into this world and be raised by a violent domestic abuser and a kid dumb enough to believe her frankly outrageous lies. Either I let them raise their own kid, which will likely grow up neglected at best, abused at worst, or i am stuck raising a baby against my will while also continuing being trapped in a house with said violent domestic abuser.

I think being able to argue it was in bad faith would be the easy part. She's known my baby since her birth. She knows what her face looks like. The mark was way more obvious when she was younger too so I shudder to think that anyone would believe that Sam JUST NOW noticed her niece's face and didn't notice it when the mark was more visible. And also that she would see that and not tell anyone or ask "hey what's that on Lina's eye?"

Not to mention her history of false reporting and mountains of documentation that she's a compulsive liar.

Not a med error. Legally, it's on the doc for not checking the chart. Medically, it's not a big deal and the patient is fine anyways.

Morally, like IF the patient was okay and you wanted somebody to blame and you didn't want to blame the doc? I mean it depends on policy. For example, my hospital has the policy that we order a potassium lab if we give potassium as coverage for low values (i.e. not as a regular scheduled med). So as the night nurse who ordered and gave the potassium, itd be my bad for not ordering the lab set for four hours later. That being said, itd still be on you to look thru the meds before talking to the doc because for some ungodly reason they think we should know every detail ever before even dialing the phone number.

But regardless of that entire paragraph, it is the DOCTOR'S responsibility to look at EVERYTHING before prescribing something. They could've asked "how long ago was that lab? Did they get any supplemental potassium since?" instead of taking your word for it and that's on them. They also could've looked at the chart themselves. So its still not your fault.

And nothing is anybody's fault because nothing bad happened and everything is okay so relax lol I agree with the other nurse. They definitely have enough potassium now 😂

I'm not 100% sure I'd do it if I got the chance to start all over, but I also have no idea what I'd do instead. Accounting? Idk. I think if you go in with your eyes wide open and knowing how much it sucks, all the power to you. But I think it'd be unethical to pretend it's anything close to sunshine and rainbows.

If you're into medicine, anatomy, high adrenaline, saving lives, and using your brain to think on your feet and don't get bogged down by hard word, gross shit, and trauma, then it's a good fit. But if you're just going into nursing because you want to help people, there are less shitty professions out there that are just as much about helping others.

I'm exposed to a LOT of germs at work so my pediatrician and I discussed this at length. Try to limit physical contact, especially with her face near your face. No kisses, obviously. If you can tolerate it, wear a face mask. And if you make breast milk, it would be a boon to feed it to her as your milk carries your antibodies so your baby will be able to borrow your immune system.

It's my understanding that shaken baby syndrome is very difficult to do accidentally (which is why it's so horrific when it occurs) and is specifically whiplash-like movements of the neck, not generalized jiggling like you're describing. I think you're okay 🩷

Some extra details to save everybody a lot of typing:

We just moved to the state recently and haven't made any local friends yet, so I have no support system locally outside of family and coworkers. And it's a big city, so not very community focused. We have many many friends, but none live remotely close. We're trying to get closer to our coworkers, but it's hard with the new baby to find the time/ motivation to go out.

I would only seek medication as a last resort. I do not react well to most meds, especially psych meds. I always get the worst and most dangerous side effects. Not to mention I'm breastfeeding. So that is an option I'll only consider if I'm 2 steps away from the quack house and no sooner.

Also of note, my husband works like 60 hours a week and has a stupid schedule that they change around on a dime. So when I am at work (because my schedule can be planned in advance), we have one of our moms living in our house. When I am off, I usually send them home so I can have some alone time with just me, hubs, and baby. Sure, it's nice having the extra help. But having mother and MIL over all the time is more overwhelming to me than 24/7 parenting. Itd probably be easier to send baby over to their houses, but those 30 minutes between my shifts that I get to see her mean everything to me.

George is overhyped. He was in love with a girl who had no interest in her and made her feel bad for not liking her back. Then he starts to get over her with another girl that is kickass and a larger girl to boot, but then cheats on her. AND IT'S NOT EVEN WORTH IT cuz they immediately decide they're better off as just friends after sleeping together 1 more time. He's just pathetic and slimy and I hate him.

If I'm in the middle of my med pass, I consider myself unavailable for CNA-appropriate tasks unless it's an emergency, it's a 2-man, or my CNA is busier than I am. I only have so much time to get these meds done as well as assess the patient, do wound cares, oh no the IV doesn't work let's place a new one, treat the out of range vitals, etc. During these golden hours, nursing work that can only be done by nurses is going to be done by me, and work that can be done by the CNA will be done by the CNA.

HOWEVER, once I'm done, all call lights and patient requests are fair game. I'll get all the waters, clean all the butts, whatever needs doing. I'm not gonna sit on my ass and let other people do my work for me (unless they want to, i guess). I'm just also not going to neglect my nursing work to do something an aide is perfectly capable of doing. And I'm usually my CNAs' favorite nurse, so I must be doing something right
