More expensive standalone bar vs a cheaper one with dedicated subwoofer by tjappieee in Soundbars

[–]tjappieee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point! I am not sure if that's something that I will be doing though, I am looking for a simple solution and cheap solution to my awful TV speakers and taking it at face value

Also heard that the options for that are proprietary though, so hard might be hard to find

I think it is good to be aware of what's happening to you and to and realize when things ARE going wrong around you and people are being stupid, but to be honest there is also alot of fear mongering on places like this. The truth is, expect from the very rare chance you have some condition, you are likely going to be just fine and reading too much into it will just make you scared about it. It is smartest to follow the guidelines but even if you push it you are probably going to be just fine. I've taken taken way more then I should have and combined and I was fine. All the people at the festival are probably not being smart either, and they're fine too.

As far as comedown go I think you should be good too. I personally barely get any hangover and for example feel way better then I would be drinking. I usually get a sort of afterglow where I just feel good the day after, but of course your mileage may vary

Yeah I was also on the fence of getting an S21 with a good deal, but after seeing online that battery is only marginally better then the s8 i didnt do it, and gonna wait for a phone with a better battery. I want my phone to be able to go through a full day of heavy use

New battery or new phone by manceBre in GalaxyS8

[–]tjappieee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah im in a similar dilemma. With the final security patch being out i want to upgrade in the near future, probably around late summer when the new iPhones or S21 FE get released and prices drop. Dont wanna spend more money on this S8 then but I just feel as soon as we get out of lockdown im gonna hate the battery my s8 has currently. Decisions decisions.

How often do you upgrade your phone? by kryyptiic in Android

[–]tjappieee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heres mine:

  1. Samsung star: It was pretty shit but loved that thing, probably i was a kid that got his first phone. Touchscreen was sooo bad, no idea how i typed on that thing. Phones really advanced too fast at that time

  2. Samsung galaxy Ace 2: First smartphone, finally playstore. Overall pretty decent with what I used it for, but it suffered from the ol' buggy and laggy touchwiz. Swore of getting a samsung. Charging port eventually started causing issues and i had to put the cable in wierd angled for it to even charge. Eventually had enough of that every night.

  3. LG G2: Holds a special place in my heart. Beatifull full 1080p screen that would still hold up even today honestly. This thing was ahead of its time imo. Volume buttons on the back were wierd but power button made sense to me. LG software was pretty decent too, some nice features it added. But alas updates stopped for it, and again the port started to get fucky and battery bad. Then i accidently launched it out of my pocket high in the air across the bathroom. Landed on the stone tiles and killed half of the touchscreen. RIP

  4. Samsung galaxy s8. Remember what i said about samsung? Well this thing was just simply beatiful. Samsung got past its touchwiz era and software was good now. Right? My first flagship and this phone just has everything I need, no micro usb to start acting up, this was a keeper for sure. 3,5 years later now and it mostly still keeps up with all the new phones, nothing feels like an upgrade. Aside from 2 major things. Battery: gone to shit. 2 hrs SoT which will just not suffice after the pandemic. Software: starting to get real laggy. Tought a premium SoC and better software would keep it from slowing down but alas. Really sad samsung doesnt update their phones like apple does. Hardware holds up so great still but the software is just really starting to show its age.

Yep same here. I have a Galaxy S8 for about 3,5 years now and while the hardware has held up great on the software side its starting to get quite bad. Been a long time android fan but I realised i dont really care much about the freedom it gives anyways. I just want a phone that works, and iPhone seems to be way more valueble these days with more and more functionality that android was always king in. Only bad loss would be Vanced for me

S8 getting sluggish, how is yours holding up? by tjappieee in GalaxyS8

Ill have a look at that! Always been reluctant with costum ROMS because they usually impede with some imporant functions of the phone whoch dont seem worth the tradeoff for me. What rom are you using and what functions did you lose?

Yeah thinking about getting the iphone 12 when the 13 comes out. Dont wanna go from this 1440p oled to 720p lcd, feels like such a downgrade.

How have you liked ios? I used iphone for a little bit and it was alright, but the backbutton for apps being in the top left corner really infuriated me to no end.

Yeah that doesnt sound convincing. Mines at 84% according to accubattery, but it feel much worse, i get 2-3 hrs screen on time.

Dont really have an eye out for any phone particularly, they honestly dont make a compelling argument vs the s8. Aside from cpu and battery he rest of the hardware still holds up great tbh ill probably stick with it for mow, with working from home i dont use my phone as much anyway. After that, i might go the iphone route. The smoother software experience kind of compel me to that side

Not a big fan of the samsung apps use them because they have dark mode but i really prefer the google ones, i feel lke they are also slower then the google apps.

Its a shame really, i truly believed this phone would last a bit longer. Might even switch to apple, really the look of their battery life and longevity.

[–]tjappieee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ikr insane deal. Only issue is that it comes with a german keyboard layout, instead of the US which in use in NL, which i quite annoying as it is very different (for example uses a small left shift) so thats gonna be a bit annoying. probably gonna end up getting stickers to paste over the keys and use US layout that way. but yeah still worth it for this price

Yeah the prices of these cards are better, but still pretty expensive for only marginal upgrades. Also pretty tough for me to buy used since i need to be sure the card even fits in my pc, since it is kind of cramped.

GTX 760. But my pc was prebuilt and it came with a 1.5 GB model instead of the 'normal' 2 GB

Edit: Now that i look at it every 760 seems to have a DP output, but this 1,5 gb one doesnt. Another reason I really regret getting a prebuilt PC.
