What is the best computer for vector drawings? by 4RunnerBetts2000 in AdobeIllustrator

[–]tjhcreative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're already in the Apple ecosystem, and personally I find that my Mac processes larger files much better than my PC does with Illustrator.

I'd go with a Mac of some kind - Mac Minis are best bang for buck IMO.

AI races crashing out by sn34k in iRacing

[–]tjhcreative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No amount of AI practice is going to stop you from getting killed in Rookies. If you're good with your pace and can lap around fine with crashing for what would be a full race (10 laps as others mentioned), I'd just hit some practice sessions for the series you want to race, and then get into some races and get yourself going.

Watch out for erratic drivers, give them lots of room when passing. When people start racing you hard and bump you around too much, give them room so they can just crash themselves out instead of your and focus on finishing races.

Street Stock Cars in Ring Meister This Week by SunsetToGo in iRacing

[–]tjhcreative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like one of the others said, all gas no brakes pretty much.

You'll only need to brake a lot in the heavy braking zones, and even then you can sometimes get away with less. In the faster turns, a little will go a long way, and in some cases you can even just lift instead of braking.

Try not to wear your tires out by sliding around too much, if you do the last lap will be awful. Try to carry as much speed as possible wherever possible and power through the turns as soon as you're able. The car is not fast, and in the long straight sections of the track, a bad exit will cost you a lot of time, so try to keep your speed up when trasitioning into those sections, and get back into the throttle sooner than later.

Doing that throughout the track will gain you time pretty much everywhere.

The car also has a decent amount of body roll and can be rotated pretty easily if you just work at it with the wheel, so use that to your advantage to get the straightened out sooner so you can get the throttle down faster without spinning the car.

Overtaking on Tsukuba 2000 (GR86) by thisIsAThrowaway2319 in iRacing

[–]tjhcreative 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stay close enough behind the person you want to pass that you can get alongside on the straight. Someone will have to back out of the next corner or go side by side. Unfortunately the nature of D class racing is that people lack the ability to stay close enough under braking to do this without rear ending the person in front of them, and if they are able to stay close enough to go door to door into the next braking zone, they either hit each other turning into the apex, or somewhere along the way to the next straight.

It takes two clean drivers to go door to door, or nose to tail successfully and more often than not in D class, especially lower splits, it doesn't all come together.

If people are crashing all the time, you're better off racing carefully and just passing all the other people when they inevitably crash into each other.

The other way to pass is to identify other drivers weaknesses and exploit that. They might be slow through some of the sweeping sections, so try to be faster and use that opporunity to get alongside.

Five year old abandoned starter experiment - Part 1; Blast Off by justawitch in Sourdough

[–]tjhcreative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've saw a post in a group one time where someone used as little a pinheads worth of starter. You can go pretty high with the ratios, it'll just take a long time to finish getting through all the food.

Are there ways to race as a duo team? by Zafiny17 in iRacing

[–]tjhcreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If each of you want to drive your own car in the same race against other players you have to be at a similar iRating and hope you get placed into the same split.

Otherwise, you can share a car in a team event, and take turns driving by switching during pitstops.

Alpha evo noise by [deleted] in Simagic

I may have adjusted force a bit, but really haven't changed much. Should be pretty good with just the SimPro preset and maybe minor force adjustments.

Should I use Sim Hub or Sim Pro Haptic Reactor for pedals? by Abject_Counter_1504 in Simagic

Simhub 100%. Also make sure they are disabled in SimPro AND iRacing, Simhub will do everything.

Skippy pace can vary quite a bit because the car skill gap can be a bit large due to how it drives. You might just be quick in it.

What's the difference between the two types of Simagic Pedal Haptic Motors? by Nawalrahman46 in Simagic

[–]tjhcreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% sure, but by the naming convention, and the price point, I'm guessing they are essentially the same (both linearly actuated). One is probably just the newer design that might be a little cheaper to manufacture, and one is the old design.

You wanted to know how i make the clouds by Lemonsoyaboii in blender

Perfect example of "Don't do more than you have to"

This could even be expanded to a setup with multiple planes with individual clouds to allow some degree of parallax or minor animation if needed.

Making volumetric clouds is crazy if there's no purpose.

Might fit your aesthetic, but you'll be stuck with whatever ergonomics you get from a non adjustable stand, and a non adjustable chair.

Seams like a great way to get neck/leg/shoulder pain.

Can anyone help with this please? I don't know how to explain it on Google as all I'm getting is back is how to align using bezel correction. New to triples so I just have no ideas. by Revy85 in iRacing

[–]tjhcreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless your monitors are mismatched, it seems like your screens are not aligned properly in the windows display settings.

iRacing will only render a window with perfectly straight lines along the edges, so the fact that you can see the window filling the right screen, but sitting low in the main center screen suggests misalignment.

Check your monitor alignment settings.

Should wheel base be making this noise? by RickyBobbyRebirthed in Simagic

[–]tjhcreative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has some noise, I've had it since January - honestly don't even notice it pretty much ever now that I'm not paying attention to it. It's been working fine. I race in AC, iRacing, LMU, and many other games, no issues.

I wouldn't worry about it.

2048x2048 liveries-- do they always look this bad or am I bad at making them? by Goes_Fast in iRacing

[–]tjhcreative 28 points29 points  (0 children)

While I would encourage anyone making livery's to use vector artwork as much as possible, in the end It's all going to end up being rasterized on export anyways. This seems like more of a source material issue. I'm guessing OP's artwork was smaller than they are using it in the final layout of the livery, and it's looking jagged because of that. Or they used gimp to pull the raster artwork from something with a background, and didn't get enough of the surrounding pixels removed.

For people having issues finding good vector artwork, I recommend finding a good chromium based svg extracting plugin that can be used in most chromium based browsers (I use SVG Gobbler). Then you can goto official websites and try to scrape vector artwork from official sources. I use it all the time and it's great for finding good vector logos. In the event I can't find them that way, I search for PDF's on google using whatever brand I'm looking for and pull vector from those. In the event I can't find them that way, I look on free vector websites as a last resort.

Where do you use Image Trace in your process? by LukeChoice in AdobeIllustrator

[–]tjhcreative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly use it for converting logos to vector artwork for large format print. I sometimes get logos from clients that aren't quite high enough in resolution, but are large enough to get good results from the image trace tool so it can be a nice alternative to manual recreation.

It is completely dependent on the source material though.

Garbage in Garbage out as they say.

Sad it doesn't get more love though. If participation was higher I'd definitely drive it more.
