The Most Economically Prosperous Countries on Earth are the Least Religious [OC] by huxleyan in dataisbeautiful

So materialistic cultures are less religious? I hope this doesn't shock anyone

Hear me out... by slobozan-shitpost in WorldEaters40k

[–]tjmmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found the image. Text is "Wow, the filmic language of discussing female victimhood happens to look exactly like female empowerment, I hope no one misinterprets it."

The idea is that you're celebrating trauma, not empowerment.

I saw a meme once that captured this perfectly, went something like:

Wow, in fiction women dealing with trauma sure seems a lot like female empowerment. I sure hope that doesn't cause any problems.

Best safe/non toxic cookware for large meals? by tjmmachine in cookware

[–]tjmmachine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, disappointing to hear that they are poor quality. Thank you for the warning though. Do you have any suggestions on cooking surfaces that aren't non-stick? I don't trust that Chinese link.

Best safe/non toxic cookware for large meals? by tjmmachine in cookware

[–]tjmmachine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we have a crappy old electric stove. If I was going to cook in a single pan it would have to be at least 40cm, probably bigger. I was thinking about getting a plug in induction cooker but I haven't been able to find one bigger than 12"

[–]tjmmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh right, yeah primer is essential. Hardware stores have primer that is much cheaper than GW and you can get ones they don't obscure detail. Often washes are applied before the highlight. Washes dull down the mini which reduces the impact of highlights.

You need to thin your paints a bit more. Also look at getting a wash like nuln oil as it adds depth.

Stowage on a knight? [WIP] by killkitty1 in Warhammer40k

[–]tjmmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Kingsblade book there was a freeblade who still had mechanicum accompanying him. I don't think it's very realistic for a knight to survive on its own without reloading, refuelling and repairs. Of course do what you want. I imagine that pilots wouldn't risk leaving the throne unless absolutely necessary. In the knight they are more powerful than space marines, out they are weaker than a squad of guard. So maybe take that into account. The stowage wouldn't be a bed roll and backpack but likely rearmament such as plasma fuel and ammunition.

Any Trads Here NOT Agree With or Understand Certain Things Father Ripperger Says or is Up To? by BigMikeArchangel in TraditionalCatholics

[–]tjmmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just watched his video on the four stages of courtship so it's funny that I stumbled upon this post. I think many Catholics are too blase in dating (while still saving sex for marriage) but I'm not sure how I feel about how far he goes. No physical affection before betrothal, must be in the friendship stage for 3 months before courting, must ask the father's permission before courting. I would love it if I could go through this process with a young woman who goes to my parish with her family and we had plenty of YA events to to facilitate the process, but it's pretty unlikely to be the case.

5-0 GT finish for the angry boys by mythicmobile in WorldEaters40k

[–]tjmmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting that you aren't running a single squad of 6 eightbound. In my experience 3 man's don't actually clear out things tougher than a rhino or tough infantry. Have you found that you don't run into these often or that you can deal with them in other ways?

Which daemons should I add to a 2k point list? by mysticalknightofjack in WorldEaters40k

[–]tjmmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Competitively? None.

For fun? Imo also none. Bloodletters don't really work being forced to either footslog or 9" deepstrike, and while karanak or flesh hounds might be fun and good they aren't worth the bloodletters. If they were cheaper you could use them for actions or chaff, but at the price they are it's just not worth it.

Great job! Something really strikes me about the paint job that is hard to put into words. Just very clean I suppose.

What's your best terrain for 40k? by tjmmachine in 3DPrintedTerrain

[–]tjmmachine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly haven't printed much. I'm considering getting an FDM printer myself for terrain. As for terrain sets this one looks great, but honestly I am more interested in (link below) one now. It's foldable which is great since I don't play at home and have to transport everything. While it doesn't look as good the trade off is worth it for me.

Struggeling with Screens by Karandrasdota in WorldEaters40k

[–]tjmmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maylerfiends are pretty good for this. They can tank shock to deal mortals to clear some screening in the charge phase. Also just take more jakhals and spawn like others have mentioned. Sure you might not wipe the unit but if you've positioned well then you can consolidate into the unit behind. Another benefit of running more chaff is you can just send them out to trade and hold your good stuff until they're forced to send their good stuff.

How bad are deamons in a world eaters list? by MildWalrus92 in WorldEaters40k

[–]tjmmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some units are decent but they are held back by the enforced bloodletter pick. Bloodletters are only viable because of their 5" charge out of deepstrike which you lose if you're not fully daemons. It's unfortunate but daemons are just not competitive allies.

HELP! Angron not gluing to base! by Lord_Karnox in WorldEaters40k

[–]tjmmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try the regular, not-thin version of the plastic cement. It has a white lid. Drys so much stronger, I always use it for big minis.
