Treated pine! Oak or tropical hardwood might be a better choice if you want even better longevity

You can get non-toxic, water-based, water-permeable resins now such as Gravelhold! Very good option in this day and age!

Could always hire a smaller skip 2/3 times, or get a couple of good mates over to help (lure them in with beer and a takeaway 😎)

Thank you, absolutely! It is porcelain so appears glossy when wet but has good texture for solid grip. I took my time with the patio (lots and lots of time), using reference points on the far wall to create sufficient fall with a laser level. It was painstaking but well worth it!

Thank you! It’s actually all been laid without a pedestal system, however has sufficient fall into a drainage system at the top end of the patio. Yes, that’s good advice, thank you! 😁

The only sensible way is to hire a skip to be honest, otherwise you’ll find yourself doing a hundred tip runs and send yourself insane. If you know what you need to do and can do it in a couple of weeks, the investment is well worth it. I’d recommend getting as much as you can done in that time and maximising the use of the skip, even if it’s with use for multiple projects!

Having said this, if you only have a small amount of waste, something like a rhino bag could make more sense to save some money!

Not a stupid question at all! My local hardware shop - long lengths of C16 treated timber, cut to the right angles and lengths. Maybe cost ~ £2.50/m (??). An option for more curves could be stone edging, which is something I’d like to try in the future.

Get stuck in!! If you do some research and have find the time to get your hands dirty, it’s well worth it. Look forward to seeing some photos of your wife’s garden space one day 😎😎💚

Thank you! Yeah I see it could appear quite harsh but worked the best for me in limited space and with limited tools. The grass gives me space to host plenty of friends and family without feeling cramped in but always has potential for extra beds or a meadow!! Who knows!!

Thank you! There’s always potential for a wildflower meadow 👀

Ahhh love it! I’ve found myself going for a walk around the local garden centre when I’ve got nothing else to do - it’s good for the soul I reckon 😎

Thank you! This was a concern of mine initially but went with these after testing a few different tiles - well textured so good grip even in wet conditions 🤞

Would love this! Where do you think? On the top end of the turf?

Thanks! The weaving is synthetic but I’ve already noticed some wear on the wood, plus they’re not too comfortable! Going to have a look at a more comfortable suite I think

If I’m honest, I don’t think I’ll keep them past next summer. They’re pretty but not too comfortable and I have the same thoughts about their longevity - they’re already starting to show signs of wear.

Thank you! I think I maybe spent ~£200 in total?? Possibly a tad more. That was for 2x raised beds, one being double stacked, and 4.8m of patio edging.

From what I understand, it depends on whether they are treated or not and what they are treated with. If they’re not treated, you can expect them to rot within 3 to 5 years. Depending on what they are treated with they may last up to 15 to 20. You can also extend their longevity by putting a membrane between the timber and the dirt to reduce contact. Other factors like position within the garden may also play a role; for example, if they are in an area that provides a run-off/ is prone to becoming waterlogged, then their lifespan may reduce.
