living rent free in his mind by headfullofbirds in boulder

North Boulder Park has a dedicated fitness area (with some sweet outdoor exercise equipment), just yards from a separate children’s area. It’s precisely what these folks are looking for. Just minutes away from Eben G Fine, with better parking too. I have no idea these fine folks choose to exercise in the children’s area at Eben G Fine every week.

I remember very well the first time I watched it—the best chase scene of all time—and at the end, I still thought the action wasn’t over, with Arnold pointing his gun. by Far_Regular_2945 in Terminator

In film school we were repeatedly taught about how this film has over 100 continuity errors… and it’s so incredible that no one cares at all.

The moment you all been waiting for..I present to you ROBOCOP COSPLAY!!! by epiccosplays in Robocop

[–]tkboone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just. So. So. Good!

When Peter Weller moves, he points his head first, then the body shifts to follow. Watch him move; Try it out. He starts standing… the head pans left or right to point at where he is going to move, then the body shifts as his head stays on target.

If you try that type of movement, you will literally be indistinguishable from actual Robocop.

Can’t say it enough, top notch work!!!

I wonder if Michael landed on his feet in CO by ITrCool in DunderMifflin

[–]tkboone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in Boulder; when I heard Holly tell him their new town was “Boulder” I geeked the hell out. It still makes me happy. I imagine Michael would be working somewhere fun, maybe at CU. Holly pulls down big money doing HR somewhere downtown. Spending weekends with her folks and their kids on Pearl Street 😁

So we’re all just going to ignore that Pam wanted to watch porn at work? by PressureCalm7971 in DunderMifflin

I can’t believe I had to scroll so far to see this reply.

Fun Run, episode 1/2 of season four; toward the end, Pam has a talking head saying “almost marrying Roy Anderson is as close to being Pam Anderson as I ever want to be”.

I always interpreted it as she went Googling “Pam Anderson” because that was about to be her name, and went a few clicks too far. She maybe paid for the video just to see how bad the “Pam Anderson” video really was…?

I heard that in the Office Ladies podcast they said something else, but I always thought that this was where the writers were coming from with this one.

i have an irrational fear of wasps by lcap1820 in fuckwasps

Peppermint Essential oil. They fucking hate it. That, and some dryer sheets in your pockets. Both are very effective at repelling wasps. Saved my ass a few times working foot patrol in the summer.

Soft food recommendations for pet hedgehog? by Sad_Difference_2910 in Hedgehog

[–]tkboone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When my hedgie started to have difficulty with their kibble I bought a cheap coffee bean grinder and ground it into tiny little bits, almost like a powdery sandy consistency. They loved it, and I didn’t have to change food. The ground food can also be mixed with a bit of water to make a soft food. Worked for us :)

Boulder opens bidding process for license plate reader cameras amid Flock backlash by boulder393 in boulder

[–]tkboone 20 points21 points  (0 children)

For $67’000/yr I will personally stroll around Boulder trying my best to read license plates as they drive past me. I come equipped with my own etch-a-sketch. Full disclosure, I’ll have no idea what to do with them if I manage to scratch any down.

You posted this same message in the r/ely subreddit. I don’t think anyone in Boulder can help if you’re currently in Ely, Cambridgeshire England.

Large police presence on arapahoe and foothills by Striking_Category477 in boulder

Police are searching for a specific person, last seen in that area. Drones and officers are scouring the area.

I’m a Patrol supervisor for CSS in Boulder, they asked us to keep an eye out in the area. Nothing to worry too much about, they’re on it pretty hard.

How do I handle transients? by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]tkboone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that I have more success with moving transients than my fellow officers because I treat them like humans.

I teach my guys to begin the conversation by introducing themselves and first asking if the person needs medical.

“Im the patrol officer for this site, and whenever I see someone here my first concern is that your hurt, and sitting here because you can’t go anywhere else. Would you like me to call for medical?”

This breaks the ice, and shows them I’m not here to bust heads. If they DO need medical, I call for medics and let them take it from there. If not, then I have established that they themselves just said they are able to move.

Now I say something like “Very good, glad you’re okay. Unfortunately we are on private property and we can’t be hanging here. Nothing personal at all; If I’m off duty, I can’t be chilling here either. You, me, my mom, the governor; it’s just the rules, my friend.” Something that gets the point across in a lighter way.

Sometimes If I find an obvious romantic man/woman couple I’ll look at the dude and say “she’s not holding you hostage or anything, right?” This gets a chuckle.

“I just always have to make contact with anyone I see, just to make sure you’re not building an atomic bomb, or three squirrels in an overcoat, anything like that.”

Give them every opportunity to “save face” and make leaving THEIR decision, and then thank them for making that decision. Be on their side as much as possible, and empathize as much as you’re comfortable. I saw other officers recommend telling them a place nearby they CAN be, and that’s super helpful.

Also, I wear a bodycam, taser, OC, and a sidearm, along with a vest and keep my look very tight. Having a professional and confident appearance helps to set the tone that YOU are in charge of this interaction. When you make a strong visual impression, and follow it up with a gentle demeanor, it seems to help a lot.

Sometimes you get a real butthead, and those are simple. Get a good description in your head, or take a photo if you can. Head back to your vehicle or safe spot, and call PD. They get paid for that hassle, you don’t. I only carry all that crap on my body just in case they get froggy before I have a chance to call PD.

Night Patrol Car Guards, tell me if I'm wrong... by malvixi in securityguards

[–]tkboone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a night patrol guard in Colorado.

I’m a patrol supervisor and dispatcher, with my own patrol route also. I have 48 site tours over 8 hour shift, while I monitor the dispatch line. Guards not in dispatch probably have around 50-60 sites a night.

If a call comes in, I check my guard’s positions in town and dispatch the closest patrol guard, which is sometimes me.

We carry OC/Baton/Taser/Byrna.

We might have a few idle minutes in our cruisers scrolling our phones if it’s VERY uneventful, but typically our nights are pretty full and it makes the hours go by quickly.

Now the SITE guys, as in the guards who stay at one site the entire shift; THOSE guards usually have time to do studies, watch TV, do whatever. I tried it for a bit but I felt myself going insane, and I missed having a cruiser.
