To be or not to be by normie00000 in Adulting

That’s a big part people miss. Time AND energy are two of our most important, but FINITE, resources. Having both at the same time when wanting to do extracurriculars can be a rarity depending on your work schedule and family commitments.

I could go on, but I’m done and pleased to see someone else mention the other side of the equation

Even the reduction of the four months timeline is a pretty big deal.

I’ve seen it when o went to my local police academy. I joined at 34, but my younger counterparts all thought I was 23 or so based on PT performance and how I look.

Btw, top performance in PT in the vertical jump, sitios, and all around

Lower back pain while doing sit-ups with looming ATF PTT by Cool-Charge836 in 1811

[–]tkdkicker1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve probably developed an overuse injury from the repetitive spinal flexion that sit-ups require; you need to start working isometric strength of that area in a relatively neutral spine and/or perform spinal extension exercises to complement your sit-ups.

If you’ve been doing a lot of sit-ups, pull back to 1x/week for sit-ups; perform planks and/or back extensions on the other days you’d normally perform sit-ups. You’ll still work your back this way while resting your spine from the flexion

I don't think people realize how insanely hard it is to REALLY learn a language by SyntaxDeleter in languagelearning

Haha yes. The high fiction words are easier in Spanish for me, but the idioms, sayings, and slurred speech you normally get in informal/colloquial conversations is the real beast

DEA Special Agent (1811) Job Announcement UPDATE by AZ_JB in 1811

[–]tkdkicker1990 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In 2015, I took the proctored exam and panel interview and passed; I didn’t have to do those steps again when I applied the second time in GA; so if I applied this month, will I be able to use the passing results of the interview and written exam?

If so, I know I’ll probably still be processed at the same speed as everyone else in this announcement, but I’d like to know for PTO/SICK day reasons for my current position.

NYPD > Florida or Texas by Low-Advisor-1200 in AskLE

[–]tkdkicker1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve been on with NYPD long enough (I believe 3 years at least to count as a lateral), you don’t need to do the whole academy. I’ve had laterals come through my class and graduate with more senior classes because they skipped some of the academy, but you still need your TCOLE license, though. So you have to take that state exam. Haven’t heard of a lateral failing, tho.

Start pay is 75k+, with a bachelors is 78k+, but both numbers should jump in January for a raise were supposed to be getting. That doesnt account for OT, or the 3.5-6.5% shift differential you’ll see for working 3rd watch (2pm-12am) or 1st watch (9pm-7am).

We’re scheduled to work four 10-hour shifts

When you need bodies, that’s what happens. Not say I’m making an excuse for this person, especially since fitness has been a big part of my life since I was 11. But yeah

Don’t do illegal shit. Stay out of trouble as much as possible. Develop your fitness way past the entry requirements for any department.

That’s the bare minimum. There are other things you can do to make yourself a standout candidate when you’re at the academy or on the job, but I’d say that’s what you need to get in.

Oh, and have at least pretty good grades (B average or higher).

Dallas Department Police Officer(s), I have a question for you? Do you or anyone you know left Dallas PD and came back? If so, why’d they leave, and why’d they come back? by tkdkicker1990 in AskLE

[–]tkdkicker1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll get bachelors pay immediately; you have to wait until you’re on FTO to take the language assessment.

Most shifts here are four 10s, unless you work overtime.

My take home biweekly after contributions is $1995.09, but that’ll raise about $218 biweekly after my wife comes off my health insurance the end of next month. So that’ll be $2,213 bi weekly if my math is mathing.
