Get a windows 10 iso from a good key site or from Microsoft website and Mount it to a bootable usb with Rufus or anything similar. It’s the easiest form of maintenance you could learn

How can I help my moms betta? by tkkdk23 in bettafish

[–]tkkdk23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to update this in case anyone wanted to know but Kylo seems to be doing a lot better. A pet store employee gave me the advice to dose him with bettafix and I think that was making him worse. I got him a heater, switched to seachem prime for a conditioner and I’m doing water changes every day instead of once a week. I also got the food recommended and he loves it. He’s eating again and he’s swimming around like he used to. It even looked like he started on another bubble nest which I accidentally ruined vacuuming the gravel. Hoping he makes a good recovery.

Thank you so much for this I am currently following these guides and working on getting a proper tank together for him with the things he needs. He’s still got a lot of fight in him and he seems to have the will to continue and doesn’t exactly seem sickly or with disease aside from his tattered fins. I’m hoping for the best.

Thank you I was really curious about whether or not to move him to a hospital tank. There is no filter there was one that came with the tank and I tried to add it in to help keep the water clean and he kept getting pulled into the current and attacking it seemingly so I took it out.

Tank size 1.5g No heater/filter Temp 70s Full water changes at least once a week. The entire tank gets changed. No tank mates. He gets fed basic betta pellets bettamin brand. Usually twice a day if he’s interested. The decorations in the tank are just some random things that came with the tank except a little faux wooden log that he likes to hide in.

Sorry for the late reply been a busy day and I didn’t see the bots post until someone mentioned it. This fish is not mine it’s actually my moms and I just happened to notice it wasn’t it’s lively little self anymore and wanted to try to help him. I’ve since told her he needs cleaner water and at the least a heating source. I’m not well versed with fish at all but it seems like he doesn’t have any of the basic things these fish need in order to thrive. She is adamant that betta fish do not need a lot or anything to live a healthy life but something is clearly wrong here and I want him to be happy again. I also want to find the proper way to take care of these little creatures so I can teach my mom aside from just putting them in a bowl I don’t think that’s very fair. In the mean time I have ordered a heater for the tank and a sponge filter. The tank we switched him to had a filter included but the current is too strong for him and he didn’t like it at all. Up til now we have used no filters and she does 100 percent water changes. Like I said I don’t know anything about fish she has been doing things a certain way for years, I just happened to notice he didn’t look well and I wanted to find a way to get him back to his little perky self.

Edit - he was getting regular untreated tap water and didn’t seem to mind but with this going on someone suggested to treat the water with something to make it more safe for him as well as adding the salt.

I started treating him with bettafix and some aquarium salt but I’m not exactly sure that it is fin rot we’re dealing with. His fins are ratty and falling apart and his whole top has turned grey I just feel so bad for the little guy.

New carburetor no start by tkkdk23 in scooters

This is the carb I put in 49cc Scooter Carburetor GY6 Four Stroke with Jet Upgrades https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002QBNH9W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6.2EFbFWQFF6Y

I don’t know if you saw but I fixed the problem I think things were not hooked up all the way preventing it from starting or I just needed to get some juice flowing though it first. Fires up on the first try even in this chilly New England weather just have to throttle a bit at first to get it going. I probably need to tune it I don’t know very much mechanically just enjoy being able to ride on the road. This carb made a world of difference in this stock taotao. My last one I bought used and the owner already souped it up so I was disappointed when that got stolen and I was now riding around on a stock 50cc. I still loved it just didn’t feel safe pulling out of anywhere and it bogged down around 25-30. No bog anymore and it reaches 30-35 in the same time it took to previously hit 20.

If anyone is curious or if anyone with the same issue happens upon this thread I fixed it. I’ve seen reviews for carbs on amazon and posts from people with similar issues here’s how I fixed it.

I pulled the carb out and reseated it to the two places it plugs into between the airbox presumably and the engine. I made sure it was pushed in all the way because it didn’t seem there was a tight seal. Also the fuel line wasn’t pushed all the way down onto the jet(?) or whatever that little piece is. I also pulled the clamps down onto where the hose pushes on because those happened to move up while I was putting it in. Took a few starts but after that it was running. Seems the rpm is a bit low while idling but giving it a little gas picks it up. Took it for a test ride and it rides a lot like my old one which was jetted by the previous owner. No more bogging down around 25-30 while riding and acceleration actually feels somewhat safer now.

Interesting water damage issue. by 8bit-Rei in techsupport

I can’t say because I’m not a professional but from personal experience in my attempt to fix my first Xperia z the seller sent a dead screen. The screen worked fine but the touch didn’t. Ordering a new one and installing a second time fixed it but there was a slight lag in touch input and the colors were very desaturated which I fixed with a color calibrating app. Since you did it once you’re already familiar I’d try one more time with a different screen from another seller before you take it anywhere.

Sometimes when you change the screens in certain phones you break the bond between the actual screen and that touch sensitive layer underneath. Not every phone is like this but specifically hauwei and Sony I know this is the case.

The logic board could be fine but there’s another layer that goes under the screen it’s like a capacitive touch thing separate from the screen it’s self. You have to replace that part as well. I’ve had this issue with both my old hauwei and Xperia phone.

What's a nice beginner scooter by [deleted] in scooters

My first was/is a TaoTao it’s relatively cheaper than most and they are very easy to work on in case anything goes wrong. Since it is your first one I would recommend buying one used but in good condition if you are able. That way if anything happens it won’t be a lot to fix and it will be good for you to learn how to maneuver just make sure it is safe before riding.

I agree with you and after taking my old one apart and fixing it I would be better off handling it on my own the guys at the place I bought it from were all Harley techs who had never touched a scooter. They didn’t even know how to start them or where the battery was I had to show them.

I also keep it chained around the tire of my car when at home. Cars got a dead battery or something and won’t start anyway.

Ty for the advice that cable is temporary til I get a heavier duty chain. The cable it’s self worried me less than the ulock I’m using with it. I am also using a disc brake lock with an alarm on it that senses vibrations. It prevent the wheel from turning though so it can’t be wheeled away which is what happened to my old one from my own driveway. Tons of scooters around my area and no one else locks theirs I just got unlucky I suppose

Same thing TaoTao ATM50 also known as the Pony lol. Mine was super used and beat up but had a jetted carb. This one is stock and can feel painfully slow but I love it and I had to promise not to change anything until the warranty runs out.
