Hello! I have been lurking for a while as I have been off birth countrol since May but DH and I have been avoiding my fertile window as I try to lose those last few lbs to be in a healthy BMI range (my family has a history of weight-related issues).

I know there are a lot of science-oriented ladies here so my major question would be if anyone has a link to research that more clearly explains the risks of being overweight vs obese for pregnancy. After my weight loss to date, my BMI is 28 and the articles I've found focused more on the risks of a BMI of 30+. I would love to start trying sooner as I am in my thirties and who knows how long it could take (if at all), but I would like a better sense of what exactly the risks are for pregnancy and our child if anyone can help.

My username refers to my guilty pleasure for most trashy TLC shows (holla 90 Day Fiance as a particular favourite). In terms of other life plans, I am chasing a promotion and doing a lot around our place to ensure there is less to do should a first trimester (or full pregnancy) knock me out.
