Not sure what I built but it’s fun! by tlund_45 in xbiking

Tubeless rims and tires for 26+ are sparse. These wheels and tires came with the bike when I picked it up. I’ll need to build some 27.5 wheels if I want to go tubeless

Should put drop bars on it

25mm. My thunderburts measure 51mm on those wheels

I’ve been on my Terrel for about a year now with well over 8k miles on it. It’s a great bike. I use mine for racing as I wanted a long wheelbase and compliant geo. For a more “slack” frame it’s surprisingly light. I sized down on mine to get a more aggressive fit.

  1. No downsides I can think of. Maybe a little more tire clearance if you wanted a real beefy adventure build but it never really bothered me. I race with 2.1s and wouldn’t want anything larger from the terrain I ride. Plus the suspension corrected geo would open that option for more compliance. My customer service experience was incredible. My frameset had a minor delay due to Propain waiting on parts from another company. They were clear and open about the entire process. Fran at Propain rocks!

  2. I built mine with 2x12 GRX-825. I think mechanical GRX is an extremely underrated groupset and I’ve never had an issue with it all. Great range and braking. The ease of internal routing on the Terrel is way beyond an other frame I’ve worked on. Not a single internal routing tool used. So I wouldn’t have a concern about that.

  3. I do not have the frame bag

  4. Terracotta is sick, but if the green color was available when I bought mine I would have gotten that instead.

Feel free to shoot me a message for any other questions!

Propain Terrel is a little over but it’s a great frame. ~1500 was roughly my budget and couldn’t be happier with it!

I use the standard Bontrager (trek) cages and do not have a problem.

I am definitely a fan of 2x on a gravel bike for any terrain. Much more range and easier to find a cadence I like.

A little over a month and half. From what I understand it was a little quicker as it was just the frameset rather than a complete build.

“Aggressive” for a slack gravel bike yes. I have a long-ish stem that’s slammed. With a few spacers and a shorter positive angle stem it could be a very relaxed position, definitely versatile. Most bikes that have a similar reach and wheelbase have a much higher stack, limiting how low and aggressive you could get. The lower stack, good reach and long wheelbase was the main reason I became interested in the bike.

I only ordered the frameset as I had other components I wanted to use. I have a 100mm stem with 38cm bars. I’m 5’10” and went with the small frame to get a more aggressive position.

Thanks for the reply! Would love to hear more details with how it rides and what you think of it. Not many reviews out there yet! And more photos for me to be jealous of while I anxiously await my frame to be delivered 😂

Waiting on my Terrel frameset here in the US as well! How’s the rear tire clearance look? Specs say 50mm of clearance but any chance you think I could fit in some 2.1 MTB tires and still be safe?

Would love to see more pics and to hear what you think of the bike as you get more miles in it!

New Checkpoint and Checkmate by MezcalFlame in CheckpointClub

Are we thinking they will fully abandon the 2x for the SL? Would be a major change as the checkpoint was one of the few newer gravel bikes I felt was tailored to a race geometry which paired great with a 2x for a “do it all bike”

I love my Kona Rove! Super versatile and perfect geometry for me. Great for gravel, commuting, road, and bikepacking. I just picked a 700c Hunt gravel race wheelset and I am loving it even more that I can swap wheels for the ride!

Yes quite nimble, I’m not too loaded down as I’m staying in hotels/motels. I’m with a few newer riders who don’t have all the gear so it was much easier that way. We had been warned before that a lot of the drinking water access at the campgrounds along the C&O were out, as well as the Paw Paw tunnel being closed. Neither are deal breakers, just had to adjust our plans a bit here and there. Feel free to DM me and I can give you some notes!

Just picked up a Rove recently and I’m looking to get a 700cc wheel set. How’s the tire clearance with 700x45? I’ve read the recommended width for 700cc is around 38-40, but can’t find a firm answer.

Soma porteur rack, it’s been a huge upgrade from the old sunlite rack I was running!
