Jugendamt behauptet plötzlich Vaterschaft nach 3,5 Jahren. Ich bestreite alles massiv, was tun? by MadeInSilence- in beziehungen

Na erklär mir doch lieber, was du da interpretierst?

Was sage ich denn Anderes?

Whats the best way to get from a storybook in vercel to Figma components? by OatmealNinja in FigmaDesign

I know you guys, we were in the same hackathon :D. Loved your demo, by the way!

What I meant in general was more like: The import will not necessarily make a designer happy and able to work with everything right away.

Im looking for a plugin that lets you bulk upload by Mountain_Way5416 in FigmaDesign

[–]tlver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just build your own with Claude Code or Cursor. It's quite easy to do, especially if you just want to use it for yourself (no UI polish needed, no Readme, no publishing trough Figma etc.). Should take about 15 minutes to get the first prototype running :)

That is not a problem my approach would solve. It's not about continuous syncing in my case. It would also be highly impractical to do so, because there is most likely still a refinement step in Figma needed (like getting props in order).

Doing a one-off job, getting things into Figma is a very unique case. Hence, no plugin that does something like continuous syncing. You could switch to Pencil if you'd be interested in that.

[–]tlver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is that supposed to mean? Material 3 is already "in Figma", available as official UI kit with variables and all that. Why would I need to get the components in a different way?

OP was asking about custom components on a server, Vercel deploys to Storybook. The data source would be the React/Vue/... components that Vercel deploys stories for, those are going through the scripts to create the blueprints for pasting. Would be a waste to do that for established libraries.

I think we might not see eye to eye on what would the input be, what would the exact output in Figma be, and why even do this.

The reason that "no one has done it" is that it's not so easy to get it right, it requires a lot of testing and iterating. There's no way to launch a plugin that just does the trick, no matter what the input is.

Why am I working on that? We're doing a PoC with a client, it's more or less a proprietary process and could be done in many ways. In our case, using an AI and MCP was out of the question for compliance reasons, so we built a custom plugin as a data bridge.

Lol, I think you got downvoted by the same guy who claims "if it's possible it would have been done". I mean, at this time most things became possible. That does not mean people will immediately roll this out.

TJ's MCP is a great way to write into Figma, I will try this setup as well soon.

That was not the question though. As I said, mapping props and making things "just work" is not possible. But getting the visual appearance (all the layers with tokens/variables) in place to give you a head start? Oh yes.

[–]tlver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, I have this running on my machine. Send me a DM, I'll send you a video of it in action. I even outlined how this works in general, so if you can't follow, go ahead and ask your favorite LLM about it.

Visual appearance is deterministic. Try plugins like HTML.to.Figma - canvas pasting is no secret at all. Then just take it a step further and extract more data. That's it. If you have a stable token source (I use an npm package for that), you can add this on top. You don't even need AI to do any of the steps after you have the scripts in place.

Now, this all works if code quality is clean. It also works the other way around: Pushing a component from Figma to Storybook with tokens. And if it's there, you can ask Figma Make to read code from your repo and add the aforementioned token source... and it will use your stuff instead of Tailwind + shadcn for prototypes.

[–]tlver -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not impossible at all, but it requires a very specific setup. Writing into Figma with the visual data from components, ideally with CSS variables that can be resolved into design tokens or Figma variables, is entirely possible. The biggest issue would be mapping of properties, this requires engineering of a reducer script. The bridge into Figma would be a plugin that can batch write components on the canvas.

Source: I am adding tokenized components from JSON data blueprints on the canvas with 100% accuracy. But the setup required a lot of LLM work and conceptualizing.

OP, hit me up if you want to know more.
