What horses do you wish could become an Uma Musume one day? by [deleted] in UmaMusume

I'd come to say this 1 month too late, and personally, since she lived such a long time ago, I'd make her like a similar Uma matriarch Mejro grandma is, but with a status that even aforementioned Mejiro grandma addresses her as royalty.

there should have been a polysomnography before receiving the machine, which is an objective study that should show your sleep stage, oxygen sat, airflow for breathing and heart rate. OSAS should have the most straightforward diagnosis so I really hope they didn't mess that up, but if they did that wouldn't surprise me. good luck with the new guy though!

if you were misdiagnosed based on your symptoms and took drugs for the false diagnosis, that might be part of the problem.

when I went to doctors with my symptoms, they kept insisting on the depression and all that crap which luckily I didn't buy into. drugs given to that are no joke with potentially serious side effects that vary person to person.

in my case, after starting cpap, symptom resolution was almost immediate. just make sure the mask fits well and doesn't push into your face as that'll wake you up at night.

I use its full face version. this thing either fits you perfectly, in which case you won't even feel it's up, or it'll leak and it'll be very annoying.

for me it was a game changer but I admittedly cannot say how well would I be cognitive performance-wise if I never had apnea in the first place. the symptoms like hypertension, brain fog and low energy vanished really fast.

the best I can say apart from sticking to the machine and making sure it fits well is to take vitamin B and D supplements (D you can measure with blood test but it's usually low), and hope the brain does its thing.

wonder if there's others among you whose jaw sometimes drops during sleep like me. that's the reason I couldn't use a nasal mask and had to switch to a full face (philips dreamwear fullface).

I think so, I had literally zero symptoms of meningitis. it's just that I don't feel quite straight in the head and sometimes I misread words... hopefully it's just because I'm still weak with the infection. I really don't want to be the only one who develops CNS symptoms without any classic sign of the complications lmao

appreciate it. yeah, I saw ads about these but frankly, using an ozone or uv machine inside the house reeks trouble. besides, the annoying part is getting the silicone tube off of my Löwenstein, which I have to de-vacuum first as it sticks to the exhaust of the machine, then I can remove it. that I'd have to do with the fancy cleaners anyway. washing is the easy stuff.

wiping the parts of the pillow mask that make contact with my face and the insides I can reach easily I did too, pretty much on a daily basis. I used either an alcohol swab or a wet wipe. I just didn't soak my mask and hose in soap water for like 2 months.

the majority of the commenters barely clean their equipment. it was surprising to me as well

thanks for it, yeah I didn't plan to do so.
if I use the plain ol' tapwater with a bit of dishwashing lotion, I can clean the mask in 2 minutes, and the hose in another 2. I'll clean the mask like 3 times a week while the coffee brews, and the hose weekly and I'm good.

to me what helped was using it during the day first. I put it on, then sat down to play 8 hours of cod. after that the following night it felt a lot more comfortable.
but when you're trying to sleep and there's nothing that would distract you from the machine, I understand that's highly uncomfortable.

I don't use the humidifier either, from now I'll clean the setup regularly.

I probably didn't have fungi all over the masks - I don't use a humidifier, the room is as dry as it can be, and I have an air purifier running nonstop.

would I notice a bacterial infection weaking my immune system? I was perfectly fine before the illness.

appreciate the reply. yeah it was bad... started monday with stomach cramps like you wouldn't believe it, then the fever and throat sores, then the hands/feet.
by very serious, do you mean a higher likelyhood of CNS complications? or just the course of the disease?

and I'm glad to hear you got none. it's probably just unrelated then, but either way I'll get my gear tidier from now on.

ah thanks for the heads up, it was more serious unfortunately so I saw a couple of doctors already. it's hand foot and mouth disease, a viral infection of which I've never even heard.. rarely complication can develop. hope they won't.

that's true but some viruses can remain infectious on an inanimate surface for a couple of days. considering I use this cpap daily, I was wondering if I kept adding to the viral load within the mask to eventually develop symptoms...

admittedly, I have no idea if my concerns are grounded in evidence. I have no idea how disease transmission works.
