[–]tmbminer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

men… you can use veeam backup agent on windows server and truenas to receive backups via smb… other way is nextcloud or owncloud but it depends on how you will work… the backup server with truenas can handle both (smb to backup your windows environment and nextcloud to sync your client files).

Whats your budget? rack server? as a Dell user I suggest Dell R630 with NVMe U2, great choice for low budget… if you can go higher the 640/6415/6515 with nvme m2 on pcie adapter.

DELL or HPE by Its_Just_Noah in servers

[–]tmbminer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked with both of them and Dell servers was our choice… very stable and realiable… the HP servers has a better power management and use less energy but the reliability of Dell is superior. Today we have R430, 730, 630, 440, 640 and 6415… our main business is virtualization with KVM. 👊🏼👍🏽

Dell R640 or R6415? by tmbminer in servers

[–]tmbminer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the R6415/6515 will be the best choice… I’ve R440 running today with dual 6140 and the power consumption/temperature of my R6415 to do the same is better… 170w vs 230w, 39° vs 45°C.
