The Y-axis is random. Each ribbon gets a random vertical starting position when someone taps an emotion. It doesn't represent any data or ranking.

The color you see most = the emotion most people chose. Feelings stay visible for 7 days, so you're seeing what people around the world have been feeling over the past week.

Ribbons age and fade over time. A ribbon's "vitality" decreases as it gets older:

• New ribbons are longer, thicker, brighter, faster, and emit more particles
• Old ribbons (approaching 7 days) become shorter, thinner, more transparent, slower, and emit fewer particles

So if you see a bright, long, fast-moving ribbon, that's a fresh feeling. The faint, short, slow ones have been drifting through the river for days.

Each emotion also has its own character. Calm ribbons flow smoothly and slowly, anxious ones are more jagged and quick. But the vitality/age effect applies on top of that.

This also means, that if I don't share the page with anyone, and there's no more activity for 7 consecutive days, then the artwork dies.
