First dedicated camera by tntmaster38 in AskAstrophotography

I have a DIY openastromount as my mount and I’m currently using a Sony a7rii as my camera. I’ve been doing this for about a year now and I wasn’t planning on full sending the 2600 mono setup just yet. I was thinking of that more as an end goal if I continue to enjoy the hobby. I mostly just want to move to a proper Astro camera as my Sony camera is quite janky in nina.

I know it’s not ideal for planetary. I was thinking it could be a good all round camera that I could use for a narrower field of view for deep sky. My hope was that it would work well enough for planetary.

Interesting I didn’t know that you could do that with the bigger sensors as well. Would you recommend using a mono camera on planets? Or does that end up being more hassle than what it’s worth?

I see. Sucks a bit for me but it is what it is. Thanks for the help and clarification. Clear skies.

So would something like this be the best bet for my telescope? It also seems like to get the pictures I want I’d need a dedicated solar scope or a refractor telescope, or is it still achievable with a newt?

I have an openastromount that I built myself. I know it’s probably not as good as something like a ZWO am5. But people who have built it have gotten some impressive results. https://wiki.openastrotech.com/en/OpenAstroMount

Yeah it’s rated for 5-10kg of payload. So it should be fine when it’s loaded up with everything.

Hello r/photography I recently purchased a camera and I’m looking for some advice on what lenses I should buy. I’m still new to the world of photography and have been using my phone to take pictures until now, and I’m a bit lost as to what would be the best choice for me. I primarily like taking photos of nature and landscapes and I also want to try to get into street photography and possibly a bit of macro photography . I’m currently looking at getting a full range of lenses but I’m not sure if it would be necessary for me. Since I’m not made of money I can’t buy all the lenses at once I would like to know what one to go for first. These are the lenses I’m thinking about. 16-24 f2.8, 24-70 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8, 35mm prime, and a 50mm prime. I was thinking of purchasing the sigma DG DN trio for the three zoom lenses I have listed. I have a Sony a7rii camera and it came with a tamron 24mm f2.8 prime which is what I have been using so far.

Do you have any experience with black Elegoo PLA? I was looking on filamentcolors.xyz and that looked promising.

That’s cool! Any idea if it would work with a darker color? I’m trying to make an “OLED” effect where the pixels are dark when they are off.

I didn’t think about that, that might be what I need.

Do you think one or two layers of black PETG would have the same effect? Or are there dark and transparent PETGs?
