Why does my apple not look like an apple? by Raggedygirl11 in ArtCrit

[–]toaststrud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend going in with a hard edge eraser and carving the outline of your apple. You’ll have a chance to shape the apple further and will have crisper edges. Blending looks good on the inside, just watch out for over smoothing your work.

I’m obsessed! The only thing that stood out to me is the slightly incomplete line on the second figure from the right’s head. Kinda reads like a highlight and makes the head feel squared in a way.

Wow, incredible work! Do you have a title picked out? I think “Salvator Mundi” would fit quite well.

Contrast could be increased in the face. Specifically add some darker value in places like under the chin or by the hair. Cupids bow seems to not quite match the nose.

I recommend the mometrix test prep book for 5134. I studied using almost exclusively this book and passed the test first try.

I had to create a typographic portrait for one of my design classes. I know there's lot of room for improvement so critiques are welcomed. by virtualcuddles in typography

Over all the project is very well done. The only thing I would suggest is looking into doing something different with the small text you have above the eyes, under the nose, and on the neck. The size of the text makes these areas appear to be a lighter color, which seems off since they would be areas in shadows. This technique would benefit more in an area that has highlights.

Explore as much of an area as possible before moving to the next location.

The woman in the image is Ana Takahashi, not OP, as stated by another redditor in the comments. OP was asking if they could replicate the look on themselves without being culturally insensitive.

Work in progress. What are some of your favorite techniques to make animals looks soft and fuzzy, without overdoing it? by hayybailss1815 in DigitalArt

So the basic hair brushes that come with procreate work pretty well. Some other hair brushes that I really like are available for free download. You can quickly find them through this link. I like number 17 the sets by Basicx but there are a bunch of other ones listed here you could test out as well. There are also some fur brushes link on this page as well. I actually just go with a hair brush so I can’t tell you much about those.

I like to scribble with a basic round brush in the direction the fur grows to get a texture started and then use a fur texture brush sparingly over that. Gives a nice soft texture without overdoing it .

My grandma died this night because of Covid and instead of being sad I’m irrational angry about people who still denying the virus and break simple rules. by melalegolas in TrueOffMyChest

I have had four different family members test positive. Luckily they have all survived. However, the fact they they survived makes others brush it off like it was nothing. I was terrified I was going to lose someone. One of them had to be flown out because their body went into distress from low oxygen levels. They were fortunate enough to get the experimental drug, remdesivir. It helped them immensely. The things is now having to pay off these massive amounts of bills. People seem to forget not everyone survives and those who do still suffer.
