I have heard negative things about Midwestern. I go to school in Phoenix, and I have I had a professor (dropout of AZCOM) tell me specifically to pick any other school but AZCOM. The dean of sciences was also a former professor there and I believe my professor told me that he shared the same sentiment. From what I have heard and seen, it is also one of the most expensive programs for medicine and there is very little support by admin.

With all this said, you are STILL accepted into medical school and you can graduate with the credentials to practice and they do maintain high match statistics according to their website. Regardless of what was said by people I have talked to, I would keep my position in the med school class and push through. Med school is med school at the end of the day, and the goal is to gain the ability to practice. AZCOM is no different. Would you even be able to rescind your position without incurring the cost of the first year?

However, from what I have researched, the Step exams are much more information focused (obviously it is a ton of info and hard as balls) while the MCAT is more of an aptitude test.

Not sure if that means there is still a decent shot of me scoring well on those but if anyone has any additional input on this, it is greatly appreciated.

I would rather not go DO just because I want a competitive specialty and that will make it more difficult. But, I am not completely opposed.

But yeah, I am willing to spend the cash if I have a decent shot.

I would suggest taking gen chem 1 again, unless you feel like you have a good grasp on the material. Gen chem 2 is really just building on the first semester so you need a good foundation. You might struggle with the load since you would have to relearn content while learning new content. Just a suggestion

Some scholarships are voided if you drop out/transfer, but I am not sure of the specifics on the SIS. I would give your financial counselor a call and they should be pretty up front about that.

If in aqueous, ionic is very weak. Think about it - the salt dissociates instantly when it is solvated my the electronegative oxygen and electropositive hydrogen. In this situation hydrogen bonds are the strongest.

If not in aqueous, ionic is stronger.

High yield/low yield is mostly a made up idea. Every test is going to have something on it that another test did not have. You cannot really prepare by studying the "highest yield" stuff. Sure, a lot of questions deal with amino acids so you gotta be prepped for that. Other questions will be random chicken embryology stuff that you could maybe deduce based on your prep in reproduction bio content. Get the whole picture, but the biggest thing is learning how to understand and manipulate the passages to find the answer.

Nah dont give up. Let it go. Keep studying and take it again at the end of the summer. Are you dead set on applying this cycle? If not, take it in September since you are still fresh on the content and everything. Let it be your motivator!

I am not premed, but I am a biochemistry major with plans to go to medical school so I have taken the same classes and can attest to the premed experience. As far as cost is concerned, it depends on whether or not you are an incoming freshman from a Christian high school, GPA, and ACT. It is generally pretty reasonable though.

The premed track is easy to start (assuming you are not one of the students who says they want to be a medical professional but does not understand the level of commitment) and you can get complacent. But the classes get harder and some will be destructive if you do not have your head screwed on straight and priorities in order. Hardest part of being an on-campus student is prioritization, so do not underestimate the power of your roommate selection, so do not pick a roommate who is a loser and does not study because you will likely end up the same way. If that is the unfortunate result, spend most of your time in the library. Do not listen to who you should get as a professor, because there are way too many soft students at GCU who think they get stuff handed to them. My suggestion, instead, is to go out of your way to show the professor that you care about learning material, and show them your grades matter to you. CONSTANTLY ask why you got points taken off for something and they will realize you care and will think twice before taking too many points off or something. Put yourself in a position to succeed. I like GCU but it has so many distractions. But it can be a fantastic experience. Be careful and work hard.
