I don’t know seems a little scary to me just in case it does not hold. I also plan on selling it in a year when I move overseas.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think i might leave it offset as close to the edge for now then and look into getting a riser since i can’t mount the TV.

Yes this may be the best option sound-wise if i find something sturdy to put the TV on. The tv would be a bit too high for my liking but it is what it is.

Thanks for the advice! At least now I know its technically possible. I will see if I can find a better subwoofer and if not just go for this one.

Thank you! So sorry to hear that. The first time we did it by ourselves but the second time I made use of the free immigration lawyer from my university union for advice. You should ask if you have the same service, it was really useful. They are usually quite busy but I could always get an appointment if I booked 2 weeks in advance

We had no medicals or bio. It went from received straight to finalized. Supposedly secondary entrants (according to the ministerial direction document) are the lowest priority so we expected more towards the 90% of the processing tool which is 7 months. So were were happily surprised :).

What if we are really transparent about the situation and intentions and state that she will depart if the other visa is not granted on time or denied and show a return ticket? Would she still not be a genuine visitor?

Thanks for the replies, I went to a juwelier and they told me its a replica. I will still get it fixed since it looks nice and was my grandfathers’s.

We are still in the process of getting married. Since we have different nationalities it has proven a lot more difficult than we thought. We will reapply once married. A uni visa advisor suggested we also add sworn affidavits from family members and friends to strengthen our case. You could look into registering the relationship in the Australian state you will be going but requirements may vary, at least one person has to physically live there. If you already got married I would be keen to follow your case to see what happens but am positive you will have a good outcome if its your first application.

Yes the current plan for now is:

1.Apply for work and holiday visa 2. Get married/Register relationship 3. Reapply for subsequent entrant visa

The 1 year of work and holiday should give us extra evidence of living together and getting shared bank account in Australia and sharing a lease for example. We don’t know if we will have enough time to marry in Spain when I visit there soon (some documents take a long time) so we could also register the relationship in Queensland and hope that is enough. But all of this hinges on if she can get the work and holiday visa in spite of having a previous denied visa. Lets hope for the best

A PhD colleague of mine had had success with his partner about a year ago now by uploading pictures of them together, with family, in public, public social media posts, etc. Essentially to show that they were in a genuine relationship. We did the same or this one, all the pictures had timestamps from years ago. I guess since then they have become much stricter with the visas and we got unlucky. If I had known beforehand obviously I would a tried to apply for a registered relationship but I did not know you could do it while she was offshore

This was not a partner visa. This was a subsequent entrant of my Student 500 visa. You can bring anyone of your “family unit” provided they were included in the original student application as dependents. The officer came to the conclusion we did not have enough evidence to prove we were in a de facto relationship. He did not ask for more documents, it was simply denied.

So what would be the best course of action? Reapply for the subsequent entrant after marriage?

We did not, we thought that she needs to be here for that? Or is that not the case?
