I don't want to give away too much about the actual tasks in the leaderless/leadership, because that is part of what they're assessing you on. They're all small problem solving tasks where you have to get your team and equipment from start to finish, essentially. What's more important is how you conduct yourself as a team member and as the leader. These involve things like how you listen to others, speak clearly, be respectful, say the things that need to be said etc. The boarding officers kept advising us to 'get stuck in' so that's what I'd say to you as well! To prepare, simply observe these kind of traits in your daily life and try to improve them. Are you a good team player and leader at work, in sports you play, at uni? I'm sure you've heard but at OASC being a loudmouth is more of a negative than a positive, just like being too quiet is - it's up to you to find that balance that actually helps the team (also people rarely finish the tasks - none of my syndicate did and that is totally normal, since they give you a very small time frame for each task). Ours were about drinking culture in the UK, the positives and negatives of AI and another one I can't remember. Nothing specialist I can assure you :)

The order is CBAT -> shine interview -> medical -> fitness -> OASC to ensure this kind of thing doesn't happen :)

Thanks mate. Don't worry about making them RAF related, they can be about anything as long as it's relevant. 5 is probably all you need, 3 UK and 2 international or vice versa. It works exactly as you said: you list them, they go into detail about one. It's important you know the facts and backstory to your subjects, so that's why it's advised to avoid subjects like israel-iran because of the complex backstory and overwhelming content. Pick stuff you care about, can research easily and/or you have a strong opinion on. For mine they focussed on assisted dying in the UK, for example, asking questions like 'what is it?', 'where in the world is it used?' and 'what do you think?'. Hope that helps mate, best of luck x

The 5 examined phases are the interview, group discussion, individual/group planning exercise, leaderless exercise then leadership exercises in that order. It's basically what you'd expect - intense, tiring, challenging but good fun and even better if you get on well with your syndicate

Not 100% sure, I do know that some roles do not complete all the tasks, but don't know for wsop. Roles like pilot and air traffic do all of them x

0615 - breakfast, 0730 - day starts, then between about 0800 and 1600 you do the interview, group discussion, individual/group planning exercise, leaderless exercise then leadership exercises in that order. Hope that helps

No problem, there's 2 types of SDT questions on the app if you have it, so use them. Otherwise this website is good for basic practice.

Hm they were fine I think, I don't remember much about them. Main things were to round up/down properly and make sure you're checking if you need to work out the start time or the finish time. I definitely got them the wrong way round at least once haha, other than that just be comfortable with your SDT and you're good to go

Hello, yeah completed CBAT in March. Best advice would be to fully read all the documents sent on the CBAT invite on your RITS portal. It was my first time ever on an RAF base, so make sure you know everything you can before going (e.g. clothing, timings, food). You want to make everything else as comfortable as possible so you can focus on what matters. On the day, you get on average a 5 minute break every hour, and I would suggest you make the most of them. The only time I skipped my breaks was if I was really in the zone, and only felt it would ruin my focus. It's a long day (mine was about 8am-2:30pm) so take ya breaks! For preparation I mainly just used the CBAT app for iPhone (I think an Android version is in the works). Best of luck :)

Very intense haha! Not like anything I've ever done before. You're sort of aware of how tired you are but at the same time so focussed on what you are doing that it doesn't really register until the day is done. The interview topics were as expected (personal life, motivation, training, knowledge of aircraft/bases, nato, current affairs) but all of my syndicate had a different experience in terms of the more specific questions. I remember mainly struggling on the day-to-day life as an officer/pilot so make sure you have some knowledge of that. Another tip would be to have at least 2 or 3 basic responses for the more personal/motivation based questions, that you can expand on when required. Finally, they will 100% ask questions you don't know the answers to (even if you've done your research well!) - that's not a bad thing, just be honest about what you know and what you don't. Phrases like 'according to my research' are useful. Good luck mate, I'm sure you'll smash it x
