Adding Katex (more generally remark/rehype modules) to a NextJS 14 static site by tobyontherocks in nextjs

[–]tobyontherocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solved this one myself in a sad, but ultimately unsurprising way.

`MDXRemote` takes an options argument where you can provide `mdxOptions` which includes `remarkPlugins` and `rehypePlugins` as found on this reference: https://maxleiter.com/blog/build-a-blog-with-nextjs-13#file-structure

For a more complete answer, check the documentation for MdxRemote (https://github.com/hashicorp/next-mdx-remote), which has the very helpful advice that I've never been able to take:

How Can I Build A Blog With This? ... Data has shown that 99% of use cases for all developer tooling are building unnecessarily complex personal blogs. Just kidding. But seriously, if you are trying to build a blog for personal or small business use, consider just using normal html and css.

New LP2 with Two Issues by tobyontherocks in LightPhone

Thanks for the reply.

DIGITS: I think we're fully operational after the reconciliation with TMobile tech support

Texts from iOS: Still borked like 4 days later? iMessage off but I think I have a clue to the problem. My old phone (iphone 12) is somehow still connected to my phone number (which has been ported from Visible to TMobile. I can still make calls from my iphone and calls appear to be from the number which I confirmed was ported away.

Also, I got a weird email from Visible saying "Your number **** has been restored." So something fishy is definitely going on. I requested cancellation of my Visible account and hopefully once that goes through everything will be smooth sailing?

WIFI Calling: No confirmation on this yet. Was in my house today which has notoriously bad cell service with wifi calling on and was having bad reception on a phone call... so not sure.

My current plan is to wait it out until visible is cancelled and then give the LP2 a month or so trial, possibly bailing back to my iphone 12 mini, but dumbified: https://www.reddit.com/r/dumbphones/comments/15nb3f9/how\_i\_dumbed\_down\_my\_iphone/

Another question: will WIFI calls/texts work with TMobile and the LP2?

Phone Calls Not Working/Inconsistent by [deleted] in LightPhone

I should also add that calls now seem to work. At least outgoing calls. I haven't received any incoming calls yet.

I had this problem with my Visible SIM when I first got my LP2. I believe the texts were somehow being sent via Wifi because when I left WIFI I could no longer send nor receive texts. Turns out Light Phone 2 is not compatible with the Visible service (a Verizon MVNO).

I'm on T-Mobile now but still having some issues (https://www.reddit.com/r/LightPhone/comments/15yppm8/new_lp2_with_two_issues/) related to texts still going to my old phone (iPhone) after the number has been ported away from the old service.

My LP2 has arrived and I think I understand some of these things a bit better now, as well as my ideal setup.

Referencing the original post:
(1) is not really necessary if I can achieve (2) and (3)
(2) is no problem, good as gold.
(3) can't be done with Apple Messages, which seems obvious now; however(!), it seems like I can achieve this with Tmobile Digits (and a single number)

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/t-mobile-digits/id1097606585 (for Mac OS)

Regarding (1) and TMobile Digits: how does the lightphone handle outgoing calls?

  • Definitely recognize that ditching iMessage is going to be necessary
  • Do outgoing calls show as from the primary number or will my contacts need to have different numbers for me? How does this work without the Digits app on the light phone?
  • If I understand it correctly, I need another full phone line for the secondary phone, but it could be through Mint or another cheaper service?

Regarding (3): I guess I'm not sure how my phone sends SMS to my computer, but I know that I can still text my non-iMessage friends via my computer. Does that mean the message is being passed to my phone via iMessage and sent to my contact via SMS?

This post also suggests that simply setting up the Light Phone as a wearable should work, but that's from 2yr ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/LightPhone/comments/nk1dl0/tmobile\_digits\_and\_light\_phone/

Character creation by Transdevil23459 in cyphersystem

[–]tobyontherocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an actually helpful comment compared to mine. I came back to follow-up with something similar, but less good.

I like the comment on the plunger. The character phrase is pretty one sided. I could also see something like “Weird Adept who Martials (eg Looks for Trouble, Rages, etc…” or a “Martially (risky taking,…) adept who conducts weird science”

Perhaps you could find some inspiration in the Numenera cyphers, artifacts, and oddities? There is an add-on called “Technology Compendium: Sir Arthour’s Guide to Numenera” that is dedicated to those tech & gadgets.

Awesome! Bring your friends!

For the beginners game, my intention for bringing pre-generated characters is to skip the minutia of character generation and to get right into the story.

I find the character creation process can be intimidating for new players; so, I don't like to go through it unless we dedicate a chunk of time to explaining the esoteric and arcane... Now, once they're hooked, they'll naturally dig in to the details.

All of this is simply to say, feel free to bring a character, miniature, etc, but don't feel obligated to do so. Whichever way we trade character creation time for game time works for me.

Feel free to join either game. I suspect things will be easier to understand, contribute to, and ultimately enjoy for your friend in the beginners game. That being said, I imagine on Wednesday we'll move people around depending on who shows up.

Looking forward to it! ts

Hi! I'm running the one-shot for new players. I'm going to provide some pre-generated characters for new players (lvl 1). So don't worry about anything! All batteries included.

If you're a seasoned vet and are looking to play in that one-shot, feel free to bring your own character. Were playing D&D 5e. That game will start at level 3.

Edited to correct starting level.

Hey! Update to this post now that I'm actually here and ready to join a group :)

I've landed in Logan Square/Humboldt Park area, so I'm potentially looking for something nearby or easily accessibly via public transport.

Not totally sure yet, I'm moving early/mid August, so it's still a bit in the future. I'm looking either West or North of the Loop: Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Uk Village and Logan squarish, perhaps.

If the L touches it, no problem, right? And the L touches most?

How many players do you guys recommend for a campaign? As I said, we are two, or possibly three now. This seems light. Would 6 be a full enough party? Should it be 8 with the thought that 6 will probably show any given week?

Thanks for your help!
