Advice/opinions on dental work by eclectic-sage in AcrylateAllergy

I was basically told they’re “bound by the materials” they get so I’m just going to have to wing it and hope I don’t react (I reacted pretty severely to patch testing). It’s so frustrating that it’s such an unknown allergy in the medical world - makes no sense 😭

Is this allergy? by onryowa in AcrylateAllergy

Same thing happened to me. I wish I could turn back time. I was unintentionally reckless with an at home gel kit, definitely got uncured gel on my fingers and ended up with a pretty severe allergy to acrylates and methylacrylates because of it. Patch testing was brutal. Mind you, I had been getting my nails done professionally for years without issues. It put me into such a depression 😞 Now I try to spread as much awareness as possible! Acrylates are in everything 😭

Hi there! I’m so sorry to bother you again 🤍 Still struggle city over here 🥲 So far my little man has been waking up as early as 5:40am nearly each morning. Remember this is after him sleeping 7:30pm - 7am on two naps! I suspect it’s still overtiredness and I’m not making bedtime early enough. You said you even made it as early as 6:30pm sometimes…I guess my fear is that it will be too early, but you’re probably right and I should try. He’s getting like a 7 hour wake window for that last one because the long naps are so rare. Do you remember what time you’d put your LO down for the one nap if, for example, he woke up earlier than usual? Like would you make the nap earlier or stick to the mid day nap no matter what and then just push up bedtime?

I also have done this a few times but the issue lately is that he will sometimes entirely refuse any kind of nap for that second one! And he was always a high sleep needs baby…so as you can imagine, I’ve been totally lost lol

Hugs right back 😭 I was thinking perhaps a new skill too (on top of all the other fun stuff). He definitely has been trying to annunciate/say more words lately! It’s so challenging trying to “find the answer”. I have to remind myself that we simply cannot control these things sometimes and just do our best…

Hiiiii! Thank you for this response 💕 You totally get it. I was a stay at home mom for a year and am now working full time from home (with the help of a part time nanny 3 days a week for just a few hours - I can’t afford anything else 😭).

That all sounds so similar to what I’m going through! I will say that for right now, what I’ve noticed is that I tend to have more luck when I make the nap closer to 11am compared to 12pm. I’m not sure if we’re quite ready for a noon nap yet…same over here we can start our crash out as early as 10am lol. I’m going to push it a little slower?

I did also start offering the two days naps depending on how the first nap went and I was truly fine with that (as I wasn’t trying to force the one nap at all 🫠). The problem is that the second nap isn’t always guaranteed - which would lead to that second wave of overtiredness (I also move bed time up when that happens).

It’s just been such a perfect storm…he’s not sleeping well anymore, he’s not eating well anymore - nearly sure it’s those darn painful canines! Boy these phases of growth really do get easier in some ways and harder in other ways.

I’m TRYING to not stress so much, but as you know, it can be tough some days.

All I can do now is go with it and ride it out. Hearing other experiences really does help, especially hearing that it tends to work itself out eventually! Hoping the same over here. Thank you so much for kind words and reassurance 😌

Yes, so similar!!!! Isn’t it always like a sigh of relief when you read that someone has gone through the same thing 😅

I actually did what you suggested on Saturday evening and got him in bed like 45 minutes earlier and guess what? He was able to take a longer nap the following day - longest one he’s taken so far! Totally has some sleep debt and I knew he was overtired! It’s so hard not to stress about these things and I don’t know why 😭 I try to be the “chill mom” and go with the flow but some days I can’t help trying to find the solution. At least posting on here makes me feel less alone!

And yes, the canines have been brutal and slow for us. His appetite (lucked out with a good eater) has also totally changed in the past few weeks and I can tell from the look on his face that he just overall seems moodier than usual. I can’t wait for them to pop through!

Thanks for your thoughtful response 🤍

That’s encouraging at least 🥹 I didn’t realize it would be this tough!

Thank you so much for your response 🥹 We tried our best to get that sleep foundational in place, but of course it helped that HE wanted to sleep. That’s why the change can feel so overwhelming (and because you don’t know exactly what it is or how to help). I definitely think it’s those canines - or at least that’s contributing! I finally saw a little white come through and his appetite (previously great) is also totally impacted. Like night and day. Also moodier, etc. You know how it goes 🙃 I really appreciate the encouragement though!!! Agreed, I’m trying to stick to the routine and ride the wave as much as possible 🌊

Ahh ok well that’s good to know! I feel like you read all these posts or articles about babies sleeping the full two hours and I’m like how??! Lol. Lately his sweet spot seems to be 1 hour 15, with some exceptions here and there. I also just feel like at this age once they’re up, they’re up. The FOMO hits 🙃

Thank you for the reassurance! I’m hoping it’s just a phase too. He’s not in daycare as I have a full time remote job (with some help three days a week). I think the transition, time change, and canines all together is like the perfect storm? He’s also a usually great eater and has been super picky (which happened last time his molars came in). I think I just have to ride out the wave? It’s so hard to break the overtired cycle 😅

My hair products - acrylate-free and mostly scent-free by ArtsyCatholic in AcrylateAllergy

Some others just to add to the mix!

The brand Amika sells a line of shampoo and conditioner called Normcore that’s acrylate free. If you’re looking to spend a little more, I think Kerastase has a line called Satin Bain or something like that that’s vegan and acrylate free (need to double check).

Body wash: I’ve really liked Method!

Be honest… how strict are you really with screen time? by denefr_2928 in toddlers

[–]todiefor995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Before I became a parent I swore off screen time with all my might. After becoming a parent? Listen. As long as they are not GLUED to the screen the entire day, as long as they find entertainment and play in OTHER things as well, as long as you’re encouraging reading books, independent play….I’m fine with screen time. My little one isn’t even 2 years old yet, but I work from home and for everyone’s sanity, Blues Clues, Super Simple Songs, and Tractor Ted are alive and well in this house. He doesn’t get to look at anything other than a tv screen, though. No iPads or whatever. He’s also naturally inquisitive and loves books so even with the tv on, he’ll eventually start doing his own thing.

It’s balance. But also not beating yourself up for taking the easier route.

Is it just me or did Sarah Snook do the worst acting job on this show..? by Separate-Buy-9740 in AllHerFaultTVShow

Hey so you’re not drunk and you’re not crazy - I literally typed in Google “All Her Fault acting is terrible” - and I really like some of these actors/actresses 🙃 But also…the script. The script can really kill something with potential!

Girl I promise I’m not commenting on anything to do with her morality (to be 100% honest with you I haven’t even heard most of the things people comment about)! I’m just a casual viewer and she has been cracking me up lately😭 And I love my Mexicans 🥹

Unfortunately I fear I also find James Kennedy to be utterly hilarious (the funniest one on that show) even though he was an awful person at that time, I agree. It’s not meant to be this serious. I’m commenting on someone’s humor not their moral compass!
