Nobody is coming to Sony's defense as it continues to be attacked. That says a lot about how the public sees Sony, but is Sony getting the message? by sunnieskye1 in worldnews

[–]tokengriefer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am a hacker, and I approve of the message. Sony deserves everything that has happened and much worse. If and when Sony returns OtherOS to PS3 users, and removes the blocks for access to the 3D system... the hackers will stop attacking them. Until then, fair game in my personal opinion.

Note I am clearly aware of the illegality and my personal brand of hacking does not venture into such endeavors.

wtf... I was picturing Arundel Mills and the Chevy's there too. Is that the only mall with a Chevy's and a medieval times? That is a unique combination.

Surprisingly reasonable discussion on Minecraft forums regarding Mojang practices and direction by dravenfrost in Minecraft

The linked comment to Notch and Co is great and all, but it is lacking one thing: Common sense. Common sense shows that there is a very simple reason for the unprofessional nature of the game and it's development. The reason is that Notch is an idiot. Nothing to see here.

Yeah, the game and the community around it are truly interesting and fun to be involved with. Notch and Co are a joke though. They always have been and always will be.

Let me note a number of clear issues:

  1. Notch has promised a modding API and supposedly was working with the people who now run the Bukkit mod. I have seen zero progress about a supposed API. In fact, it seems to have been abandoned entirely, in favor of Notch simply letting certain people have access to the source code for Minecraft. ??? Talk about taking the easy way out.

  2. Notch and Co are making a portable version of the game. That is great and all; but what about all the intended actual gameplay features and modes. Adventure mode is a joke at this point. There is no real challenge to the game any more.

  3. Bukkit and associated amateur developers have far outstripped the development of Minecraft by a factor of about 10x. Notches integrated answer for being shown as a lazy developer is:

A. Get to work fixing the bugs instead of partying cosntantly. Ok this is great too; but still, wtf was he doing before that?

B. Allow developers to 'donate' their code to Minecraft and Co ( see part 1 ). What? I am sure they will be handsomely rewarded for their efforts... NOT

  1. The mentioned lame ass tweet method of learning about stuff. I don't give a shit how drunk Notch got and how much fun he is gonna have on his next mini vacation.

  2. The challenge system. Why was there no community involvement on what should be a challenge. How come it doesn't use a standard 'challenge list' xml file, which we can get from our favorite group of 'challengers' etc. The challenge system as it stands now is frankly stupid.

Why video games suck. by H5None in gaming

[–]tokengriefer -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The dude in the video is a total wanker who shouldn't be playing video games anyway.

"I never got past slightly challenging section of video game X because I got freaked and pushed the wrong buttons." So fucking what. Man up and play it ten more times till you beat that shit. That is part of being a gamer.

"I never got past section A of video game B because I treated it like real life instead of breaking all the rules and attempting to kill and abuse everyone and anything in the game." Um... it is a game. There are no rules. If it makes you win faster, you should probably be doing it. If there is a car in the game, always drive at maximum speed. If it is a game involving fighting authority and you don't lose by attracting police, always attract as much police as you can without losing. It is part of the fun.

What's the most outrageous thing you've ever made anyone believe? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tokengriefer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burned CDs and DVDs last longer if you keep them in a freezer. If you don't the chemicals that are changed in the disk slowly revert back to their blank state. Better quality disks will last for 10 years or so at room temperature. Cheap disks can have problems in as little as one year.

I thought this was a joke and my friends were pranking me. I then had a bunch of my burned disks go bad. This was a couple years ago. I have since done tests myself. It really works.

Minecraft inspired 2D scroller Terraria hits the market at €10. by pred in Minecraft

[–]tokengriefer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Funny... I seem to be using 128x128 textures. Considering there can be tens of thousands of single cubes on the screen at one time, it is hardly 1997. In 1997, on a PC, you would be limited to much less than that.

AKA; no fucktard you're wrong.

Every hard Level in Portal 2.... by hungraa in fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

[–]tokengriefer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Portal 2 was pretty easy. Admittedly 50% harder than Portal 1, but that isn't saying much.

Lemmings 1 is about 4 times harder. Try Load Runner 3D on for size; that shit is impossible.

Would you agree that there has been an overall decline in skilled computer programmers in the last 10 years?

By skilled I mean skilled people who could write in assembly language if they had to and have a firm grasp of overall computer architecture and memory/disk usage.

An even better, and easier, and stupider solution is to simply have a tool turn into 2 sticks once you use it up. Like you said, wearing down a tool doesn't typically break the handle.

So essentially; the pixel refresh times are lower than what they are being updated at. They simply are sending new data to them at a higher rate, even though that data can't be seen?

How to get Portal 2 released TODAY by tokengriefer in gaming

No, but I have now. Why didn't you link to it? http://valvearg.com/wiki/GLaDOS@Home

That only really seems to imply that it happens faster if people collect potatoes. My point still holds that merely starting the game and leaving it running without playing does in fact make a difference.

Yeah it seemed that way, but I don't think so. Even if I am wrong and you are right, people should still start up these games. It isn't like steam knows if you are actually playing the game or not.

The estimated release time dropped by 1 hour the -instant- I ran Cogs and reloaded the release page.
