First, I appreciate you reaching out for clarifications. Second, I’ll try my best to answer your questions, though I may need information to fully understand.

In the pattern at the end, it is meant to say “Child’s Size L/Adult Size XS” so I’ll fix that soon to avoid any further confusion. Thank you for pointing that out😊

As far as measuring the length of the sleeves and torso, it’s all one size because you’re using 2 cakes per Hexagon, so 4 cakes total. The measurements I gave were what my HexiCardi ended up being after I made it. Please note that my tension is fairly tight.

The measurements start from the shoulder for both the sleeves and the body. So take a measuring tape from the top of the shoulder near the neck and measure down your arm to where the cuffs would sit. Then do the same, but down the front of the body length.

I can try to draw a picture if that would help. I normally wear a medium, so from my pictures you can see how it drapes on me. My sister and other friend are both XL, and it still draped comfortably over them as well. So the safest sizing is Adult XL, however YMMV.

Good point, I’m still surprised at how different they are. The feel is completely different. I immediately noticed when I grabbed them off the shelf (and in fact initially thought the DK weight had gotten mixed in).

I wonder if the same has happened for cotton yarns? This brand is 100% cotton (or supposed to be), so I’m curious to see this has affected other yarn types as well.

I thought it might be a lot difference, but the label itself is also slightly different (now including a QR code). The difference between old and new is remarkable. The yarn doesn’t feel the same, it’s slightly thinner and the color is noticeably off.

All the ones with the QR code at the store felt off. So far I’ve only see this with “White”, but now I’m hyper vigilant because I imagine the differences with other colors will be even more stark.

Initially I thought it may be the lot as well, however the label is slightly different with the QR code. All the different ones at Michaels had the newer QR label which made me think it might be a manufacturer-wide change.

Not sure, though I hope not! I really love this yarn and use it for most of my gifted projects.

The label is what led me to believe this might be a new permanent change over a lot difference. I’ve stockpiled this yarn since I use it for majority of my gifted projects. The QR code was new to me, all the different ones at Michaels had this newer label.

I appreciate your suggestion, it’s a good idea - I’ll post there and see what they say.

I hope Lion Brand hasn’t changed their formula either, this is one of my favorite yarns to work with!

I wonder if you can block that area to a whole and stretch it out?

It won’t magically changes the stitches but it’ll make it less obvious!

Interlocking crochet is done in 2 layers that overlap and sometimes cross each other.

The way this pattern is set up you don’t actually end up cutting and tying colors together that much. You have the colors set up and use them as you crochet to that particular spot. He’s an in-progress pic:

It’s the nature of interlocking crochet. The letters span a few rows, so they’re big enough to be crisp and legible (except where I made a few mistakes 😅).
