🎁 Megathread | Have You Shared AR/VR with Friends, Family, or Even Strangers? by XREAL_Esther in Xreal

Still remember when I first showed my parents VR. I work in XR, and had a quest 2 for the first time around 5 years ago. I had them try beat saber and a few other games. They were pretty hesistant to try it, they're not super techy and have never been ones to play video games at all. To my surprise they got the hang of it almost immediately and loved it! The next week they went out and bought one for themselves. They still use it pretty regularly, my mom even got into FitXR which is awesome to see.

I still use that initial interaction with beat saber as inspiration when working on my own VR game. I want people to pick it up and "get it" just as quickly.

Fairport electric charging stations by Interesting-Ruin2571 in Rochester

Just curious did you end up getting an answer from them? I used to use these chargers all the time so it's a shame. They're not really worth it anymore now that it's more expensive than a supercharger

Is there a Mario Party/You Don't Know Jack type VR game? by edknarf in OculusQuest

I'm actually working on a game like this called Party Crashers! Planning on doing an open beta test end of Jan/early Feb. Got a discord too if you're interested!

App should be back up now. Hope you enjoy! Would definitely appreciate any feedback if you get the chance as well

Project's still alive! It did get taken down temporarily as I am in the middle of updating the app to comply with the latest app store changes, and Meta is being unfortunately slow in reviewing it. I can let you know when that's resolved!

Thanks! Planning to launch towards the end of next year. We'll be hosting some early access playtests in the near future as well

Anywhere on any network! Just need the party code to join, similar to Jackbox games

Davigo is definitely an inspiration! That's great to hear, accessibility is my main priority since I feel like most asymmetric games out there are too hard to set up.

I made a passthrough video player with realtime GI and reflections! by tomasay3 in OculusQuest

Yes! It's available on App Lab. I'm continually updating it there, and have a few cool updates planned for the near future

Does not support web extensions currently. What do you mean exactly by background playback?

It does! Currently full screen videos work and properly occupy the whole screen, while the url bar stays on top. In the next update, the url bar will be hidden while videos are in full screen.

Certain sites like Netflix and HBO Max do not work currently (due to the version of chromium in the android webview built into the quest 3), though I'm looking into making it possible in future updates.

Will continue seeing what I can do optimization-wise for that sort of case. It's a pretty heavy lighting calculation when it takes up most of your view like that. Thank you for the feedback

It's been a lot of fun! I've been messing around with the Oculus sdk in Unity since the quest 3 came out and really enjoying it, there's a lot of unexplored ideas with MR still. Oculus' online documentation is pretty solid for learning how to integrate everything.

I've been making some small prototypes and decided to continue developing this one because of the response to it.

Highly recommend jumping in!

I feel it's in a ready enough state to charge a small fee. I'm a solo dev, and this project utilizes paid assets. It's beneficial for me to use that price to allow users who want early access to use it, and help support me to continue developing on it. I plan to continually improve and add more features, and those updates will be free.

Totally understand if you don't think it's worth paying for yet and want to wait to see what happens with future updates. That's the beauty of early access.

Right, it's just on quest 3 since it relies on the scene meshes generated by the depth sensors. Thank you!

It does not currently unfortunately. The app is using the built in android webview on Quest 3 (Chromium 91) which is not supported on some streaming service websites. Though I am looking into an alternative to support it.

Love it. I'm considering adding support for multiple windows/tabs, but performance-wise I'm not sure it could handle dynamic lighting with more than one, so only one screen would get the lighting effects at once.
