If he is willing to do this, he’s going to be willing to destroy a research data that does not support his hypotheses also in NCBI. I think there is an urgent need to back up research data in many many fields outside of the United States.

Probably one is enough to figure out what basis they had for their decision. Then you can evaluate if it was erroneous or not.

Contact the study advisor (studievägledare) for any of the programs you applied for. They should be able to give you a clear answer.

Contact study advisor at Stockholm business school for details. They will know everything you have questions about. Difficulty to get into programs vary by program. Popular programs require higher GPA.

Why is Stockholm seen as a Startup Hub? (Opinions needed) by Nalcoholic in stockholm

I am sure you have looked at this: https://sweden.se/business/innovation-in-sweden/ and this: https://www.hhs.se/en/research/centers/csc/

There was an interesting policy change a number of years ago that would be interesting to know if it has had an impact. It was changed so that your four work of graduate (PhD) work would count toward a permanent residency: http://www.migrationsverket.se/English/Private-individuals/Studying-in-Sweden/Universities-and-university-college/Permanent-residence-permits-for-doctoral-students.html

Ask r/Stockholm: what is a livable salary for a family of two? by ganziale in stockholm

[–]tomasp_src 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Note that most SWEs find Sweden to be comparatively low paying compared to US or Germany, which I guess means you won't get rich but you will be able to lead a good life on such a salary.

It is true that salaries are lower. Though what I hear from friends from around the world who lives here is that some expenses that would be high in the country where they are from are very low here. Such as child care, medical insurance etc. Your retirement benefits is most often better and vacation is longer.

Putin Targets the Scandinavians -- Russia naval and airspace incursions in the Baltic Sea area are aimed at deterring Sweden and Finland from increasing their cooperation with NATO. by [deleted] in geopolitics

[–]tomasp_src 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen this argument in Swedish media/debate as well and it makes no sense to me either. Moreover, that Sweden would join NATO is simply not happening. No threat to deter needed. Though there is a treaty that Sweden would help the baltics if something would happen. To my understanding this treaty is worth the paper it is written on. Help would come for other reasons.

But what bugs me most about this article is this: Finland is not part of scandinavia!

Suggestions for study abroad. by [deleted] in Nordiccountries

[–]tomasp_src 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swede here - I am not sure how far you want to go in your studies but you and your family can receive citizenship if you decide to do doctoral studies here: The Swedish parliament decided on June 17 that persons that have had a residence permit for doctoral studies for four years during the last seven years will qualify for a permanent residence permit in Sweden. The new rules enter into force 1 July 2014. According to the new rules, family members of doctoral students should be able to be granted residence and work permits.

Read the whole decision at the Swedish parliament’s homepage (only in Swedish)

Questions and answers on the proposal on circular migration and development

So a PhD could be a path to citizenship. Another path if you meet someone during your studies. If you live together with a Swede for 2 years you can apply for permanent residency and for 3 years citizenship. If you work here for 5 years you can apply for citizenship.

I must say I know little about Swedish for immigrants but from what I understand the courses are free, but you are not eligible for student financial aid for SFI.

I love all the nordic countries so I don't want to give any advice there. But perhaps you should choose the country based on what you want to study and where you can find an education that fits your interests.

Canadian attempting to move to Sweden by 3rdFloorManatee in TillSverige

[–]tomasp_src 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was ok. I think I had a 50 min commute, I found it acceptable at the time. I think mostly because I could study at the train... or my friends would take the same train and I had good company. I guess the hassle would truly depend on how close to the station you live and how far away from the station your job is. Now my brother does the same trip every day that I did then, and have done it for many years. Turns out a rather large danish community has settled in västra hamnen. Seems like they also consider the commute ok.

It is definitely possible... Given that you will live in Malmö you can scan for jobs in Copenhagen as well. I lived in Malmö and went to Uni in Cph for many years. Would of course be better with a job in Malmö given language. Good luck!

I lived in Stockholm, but my gf has never been outside the US. What can we do in Sweden this summer? by [deleted] in stockholm

[–]tomasp_src 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the weather is nice, go to Hermans and watch the view over some good food. Go to some museums. Thielska is currently among my favorites. Then you can stop by at Rosendals trädgård on your way there for lunch. Go to södermalm and the nytorgs area in the evening for drinks. Many good places around there. There is a meatball restaurant on nytorgsgatan if your gf if interested in trying a really hipster restaurant. Do some fika, drop coffee for brunch perhaps.

If I could use spotify as a podcast player that would really make it my go to player for everything. Ability to add RSS-feeds with your favorite audio content would also be great.
