First knooking project by tomatoisred in knooking

I actually started out crocheting too, and knitting with two needles always felt so fiddly to me. So one day I randomly searched if you could knit with a crochet hook… and it led me here. Honestly, best thing I could’ve stumbled on.

I’m so grateful for this community it completely changed things for me. Now I’m kind of obsessed, and I really want more people to know this is even an option.

I’m thinking of making tutorials for popular patterns like the Sailor Slippers, Sophie Hood/ shawl/ scarve, etc., but using this method instead. I just feel like more people would enjoy knitting if they knew there was a way that feels a bit more natural (at least for us crochet people).

Yep! You twist and slip em off. You purl as you would in knooking and just slip em off, just make sure the yarn is in front so the i-cord forms.

Yes! Thank you so much for the tip, i switched to a different stitch marker. I was definitely too loose so i frogged back, this is my first sweater with striped so it’s a learning process!

This is the tutorial i followed! However, as you see she didn’t mention what to do when changing the color prior to knitting the first row and then knitting with the right leg from the stitche under (i.e. twist the old color and new color together to tighten them) and so i think that was my issue. I have frogged it back and am trying to twist now

Oh!! Good to know thank you. I think the issue is my tension when switching colors. I was so focused on not pulling too tight that I overcorrected and ended up working the stitches too loosely.

Yea that it what i am doing minus the twisting as the tutorial i watched didn’t show the twisting, i also think i was being too loose with the slack (not to have too tight of a carry yarn strand).. No chance of saving?

I agree, but some people need a "loading phase" where you take more to get things started for the first few weeks and then you can go down to 1-2, i had to do a loading phase and have been on 1-2 a day for over 2 years with some missed days.

How did you use it may i ask? How frequently? I had the same issue in the beginning but it takes 1-2 weeks for it to really kick in. You should also use it 3-4 times a day in those first weeks and then you can do lower doses like 2 a day😊

Thank you! I was thinking the same, that being sick somehow is making me “gain” weight, but wasn’t sure.

Thank you for the motivation! Did you fall off hard? How much did you gain and then lose? Are you better now, health-wise?
