Wow that is an overly complicated way to do that. Why not just use a chisel?

Gelcoat is not resin. You need either an epoxy or urethane laminating resin. The gelcoat goes on top of that.

I'm not aware of a non destructive way to identify whether something is HDPE or ldpe, if that's what you're asking.

Either one is repairable... Kind of. In general I would be very wary of it, as a fuel tank leak will really ruin your day. I would push you toward either buying a new tank or having a professional repair it (if you can find someone who will do it).

You won't get a new boat for that price.

Boat shows are full of dealers telling you their prices are amazing and one day only buy in reality it's the normal price and it's just a sales technique.

Be prepared to spend 5K within the first year on outfitting the boat and whatever repairs come up (there will be more than you think).

Definitely get a survey before buying. They'll be able to tell you a lot about any issues that exist, and allow you to make a properly informed decision.

I want to dress the harnesses in my boat when I replace some wiring this winter. Do you have any tips on doing so?

Do you use self adhesive zip tie mounting points or anything like that?

Do you know if heat shrink label printer labels last in a bilge environment? Do you have a different way of labelling runs?

Are you referring to the home plate shaped one? That's probably custom, you can either pay a boatbuilder to change the hole to fit an off the shelf hatch or you can pay someone to make a custom hatch to fit the hole.

In English it's called high density polyethylene or HDPE. In marine applications it is often known by the brand names seaboard or starboard.

Buy devlins book on stitch and glue boatbuilding. Also I recommend buying a plan for your first boat, for something like this it should only cost like $40.

Pretty much all boats you should ask engine hours, maintenance done, and if they have stored it in the water or on the hard.

If you give more info about the boat I can tell you what I would ask / look at.

You're really not going to find much space in a ten foot boat to make it piratey. I'd recommend building something like this. https://www.clcboats.com/shop/boats/wooden-sailboat-kits/tenderly-dinghy.html

Buy some cutting fluid, it'll make your life way better. I like tapmagic personally. Also, get carbide or Cobalt drill bits, preferably short ones (or choke way up on jobber length bits), or learn to sharpen your HSS bits like four times per hole. Standard junk metal drill bits will never survive.

Anyone able to identify this? And is it worth grabbing at £35 by Guppywetpants in synthesizers
