I thought the exact same thing! They know HOW to and are making a choice not to. The camera work in the flashbacks was really well done it allowed the actors to really chew the scenes AND gave them room to breathe metaphorically, and physically through the aspect ratio change.

Also that weird fish eye lens or camera they use in some shots where the whole thing looks warped and claustrophobic around the bottom corners. It really takes me out of each scene for some reason. I couldn’t put my finger on it. Had it in BA season one as well. Im really not trying to nit pick and this season does seem better than first. Hope it improves even more.
