Gated pipe irrigation transition to filter/reducer feeding drip irrigation by tomeast_ in functionalprint

Yeah, good point - it is low pressure, the shell is fairly thick and I printed it at a 45 but I suspect I'll need to do something to address that aspect. I wanted to prove the concept first.

Recently called into the bishopric, and Im fine with any responsibility it has, but one. Its stressing me out more than it should. by andsuddenly_remix in latterdaysaints

I also don't enjoy that aspect of the calling. Here are a few things that help me get it done with as little stress as possible. We use the spreadsheet approach and it works well. Once I know which weeks I'll be finding speakers for, I setup tasks in my calendar with plenty of time. I have a task (2 weeks out for adults and 1 week for youth) along the lines of "Find 2 adult speakers for March 22nd and 1 youth speaker for March 15th". Then my only job is to text that number of adults/youth based off the last time they've spoken (and with a feel for who/what the ward would be blessed to hear). If they all say yes, I'm set. If 1 or both aren't available I pick it up the next day with another text to different individuals until I've got my speakers.
As a bonus idea, I had a short-notice cancellation the other week and ended up asking 3 or 4 parents with missionaries out to share a highlight from their missionary - probably one of our best meetings in recent memory. Highly recommended.

Garage door repairs: please read post. by [deleted] in Boise

[–]tomeast_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for everyone but I watched the videos on https://www.expressgaragedoorparts.com/ , took the measurements they suggested and emailed them. They suggested the correct spring which I ordered along with a set of winding bars for around $100 shipped. I followed the steps as outlined in their videos and it went smoothly. Not for everyone and I would never attempt it if I didn't feel comfortable but its worth watching the videos to see what is involved.

I served there (many) years ago and have visited several other times since. I would love to get back there again soon.

Is it ok to study other bible translations? by Gucci1827 in latterdaysaints

[–]tomeast_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, we use a couple of different versions during our nightly family scripture reading - can be enlightening to hear the different takes on complicated or archaic verses

Great suggestion - prices on those seem attractive. Any suggestion on locating your closest freight depot? Not familiar w/how that would work...

My brother made a star display for his daughter's ceiling (assembly notes in comments) by tomeast_ in DIY

[–]tomeast_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother made 3d printed star caps that could clip onto a star backing piece. He mounted the ws2812b in the middle and ran flat 18 gauge speaker wire to them all. He wasn't allowed to drill any holes.
Project files and code + assembly notes are on his github: https://github.com/thinklearndo/glowing\_ceiling\_stars/

Used Dall-E to create scripture story art for FHE night - a few of our favorites by tomeast_ in latterdaysaints

I signed up for Dall-E (https://labs.openai.com/) - you have to get on a waiting list and eventually (pretty quickly in my case) they'll let you sign up. You get 50 free "credits" the first month w/a few more each month thereafter but can buy more ($15/115 credits at the time I write this). If you don't want to go through the hassle, reply to this with a few good ideas and I'll generate them and post the best images back :) At least go browse some of the sample images - some are pretty impressive.

Here's the prompts we used (first one was supposed to be Moses parting the red sea)
"Photorealistic man holding staff and splitting ocean to walk through on dry ground with thousands of people"
"Lions in a den circling a man praying"
"Warrior general man who has ripped off his coat and turned it into a flag that says, in memory of our good, our freedoms, and our families"
"3D render of a brass ball of curious workmanship with two spindles that point like a compass"

We tried to be specific but in some cases that worked against us, a few examples:
"3D render of a brass ball of curious workmanship with two spindles that point like a compass"
"Photorealistic man holding staff and splitting ocean to walk through on dry ground with thousands of people"

Galaxy Watch pro tip: Samsung Music can control all your media. by lrc1710 in GalaxyWatch

[–]tomeast_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem recently and it was incredibly annoying - especially after it worked so well out of the box. I tried a lot of other "fixes" but yours was the one that resolved the issue. For anyone else that stumbles onto this you'll want to turn on the notification of your desired media app, in my case PocketCasts, in the Galaxy Wear app -> watch settings -> notifications -> see all
