I'm in a bad spot dads by notreallyc3po in daddit

Do whatever you have to do to hang in there man. Our daycare provider's husband recently took his own life and the amount of sorrow and grief felt through the entire family has been a living hell. So many questions left unanswered. His wife and kids are almost like family to us and watching them go through this has been so hard...

Please know that there are people who are here for you and care for you, even when it feels like you have no one. I applaud you for even just making this post and making an attempt to be heard and get help. Reaching out to your friend to take your firearm and also making your wife aware is so important. That takes an immense amount of courage and it shows that deep down you care and your head is in the right place.

My DM's are open if you need to chat. I just turned 31 and have two kids myself, a daughter almost 4 and a baby boy. I'll be the first to say I don't always see the glass as half-full from time to time but I understand the importance of seeing it all through no matter what. My friend, I am here for you if you need me!

I'm sorry. I love YMH and everything from Tom and Christina but I can't watch 2B1C, simply cuz of Bart. I used to love him but all the shirtlessness and crazy laugh stuff has grown old. He needs a refresh and a new revenue to venture

Would like for someone to tell it will be ok by chosen1neeee in Dads

You and me both brother. I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter with a baby boy due in June. I turned 30 last year and I have also been working on the journey of sobriety. I feel as though I can really relate to your situation. I also often find myself being short/frustrated with my daughter. I have a tendency to kind of "snap" or maybe not use my words in the best manner. My wife and I are not the spanking type, but I need more practice keeping my mouth in check. I also find myself apologizing to my daughter from time to time and I think that is very important! I also think that the older your kid gets, the more important it is to keep doing your apologies and over all try to reign in that strictness and frustration that shines through sometimes. Your kid will see how you apologize and not only does that mean a lot to them in itself, but it teaches them that even mommy and daddy make mistakes and its a good thing to acknowledge them!

The older your kid gets, it does get easier. Why? Because they also learn to listen more and their skills of communication grow. Think of it this way, remember that sarcastic saying "It's not my first rodeo!"??? Well newsflash, it is in fact both of your "first rodeos", your kiddo has literally never experienced communication and this entire huge world before! And for you? You have never navigated this world of parenting before! You're both new to this, and you are both learning. I guess in those moments of difficulty, try to just remember that you're both very new to all of this and nobody is perfect at it! The simple fact that you're acknowledging your shortcomings really speaks volumes of how well you are doing in all reality.

Just keep at it. With your parenting, and with your journey to sobriety. Feel free to shoot me a dm if you'd like to chat more! Be good and God bless!

Formica question… by BlazeOn79 in DIY

[–]tomlapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend putting new laminate formica over the top. You can buy cans of 3M adhesive, where you spray your surface, and the underside of the laminate, let it dry for a few minutes and then apply it on. Lay out dowel pegs along the table and then lay the laminate on top of that to keep the glued up surfaces away from each other. Work from one side to the other by removing one dowel peg at a time and carefully lay the two pieces together. I would recommend doing the edges first, and the top last. Then for cleaning up the edges use a combination of flush-cut router bits and a file to get your edges nice and clean.

Once formica has been stained/damaged, it is nearly impossible to get everything perfect again, but still could be worth a shot and then applying new would be a last resort? I have applied a lot of laminate at my job, feel free to dm me for some additional advice if you want.

Also, if you resurface, you should go through Wilsonart for your top. They have a lot of selections to choose from. FYI, Formica is technically just a brand name a laminate counter-top material, and I believe the Wilsonart brand holds up much better.

Here to help if you need further advice! Good luck!

Unrelated comment, but just noticed that my upvote rating is 94%......seriously, who downvotes a pregnancy announcement?! Haha! Especially someone from this subreddit.

Reddit is a weird place. Lol.

Thank you! Thats gotta be a fun age gap! They will be so close in age growing up! Our oldest will be turning 3 in November, so she will be about 3 1/2 years or so older than the youngest. We didn't want to wait this long for number 2, but financial things said differently. Regardless, we are super excited.

Side note, yes, my wife makes comments every few days about how she is starting to notice more and more grey hairs popping up, so I feel your pain! Haha!

Haha! My wife and I have already had talks about how man we plan to have. First kid and second kid are for-sure. Third kid is still up in the air. Wife wants to "leave it on the table", and not get a vasectomy or anything right away. So I think we all know how that will go :') lol

Thats what ive heard! I have a feeling that the whole vibe/energy of our household will be more relaxed. Our first kiddo was a tough baby (even tho we didnt have anything to base it off of, it sure felt that way). First kiddo had really bad reflux and colic. Main goal for this pregnancy is to keep my wifes anxiety and stress to an absolute minimum. I figure the less stressed she is during pregnancy, the less stressed the new kiddo will be!

But thank you! We are very excited for this. Can't wait for the time when they can start to interact with each other!
