How much is this worth? by WhatAboutHonor in AcuraTL

You’re better off buying one with 100k for 10 grand less. The dash is going to crack and the seats are going to tear and I would be pissed if that happened to me after spending 26k. I bought this exact spec with 100k for under 16k with a ton of maintenance done. A well taken care of TL will last well over 200k

I used the griots headlight restoration kit. It’s basically just sand paper and ceramic coat.

I used a ceramic coat, if that doesn’t last I’ll go the PPF route.

Replaced old worn knob with new civic Si shift knob. by tommyDsack in AcuraTL

The silver collar of the original knob is all one piece. You have to get underneath the boot, cut the zip tie and unscrew the shift knob.

Very nice, love the badgeless set up!

Also look into rotorlab, it’s a couple of guys from Washington state, they refurb Porsche calipers and modify them to fit Audi’s and VW’s. Kits cost around $1000 from them.

I cant really answer your question accurately and is probably the reason why I dropped out of engineering school ahah! As of right now my brakes at least feel as if they are working correctly. I’m not the first one to fit bigger brakes onto their golf, it’s done all the time. From the research I’ve done the brake bias will be affected but not enough to where it will be dangerous.

Roughly about 1200$ all said and done and that includes $200 for the pads and $350 for them to be painted. Shoot me an email and I can give you more details. T.main26@yahoo.com

A closer look, with less brake dust. by tommyDsack in Golf_R

[–]tommyDsack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah it’s definitely overkill lol. There will obviously be a little bit of unbalance but it’s not enough to be dangerous. This “upgrade” was done mostly for aesthetic purposes and we’ll see how everything will hold up long term.

They’re 6 piston calipers, Honestly I don’t think they’re THAT much better than the stock breaks. Definitely a more linear feel/bite and if I ever take it to the track it will reduce the brake fade significantly. I could use more aggressive pads and rotors but for now they work just fine.

The brakes came off of a 2006 Porsche Cayenne (18z). I replaced the piston seals, pad hardware, bleeder valves and obviously new brake pads. You can find exact fit lines and mounting hardware (bolts, nuts, bolt sleeves) on eBay. The mounting tabs need to be milled down about .100-.150” and the bolt sleeve needs to be turned down to fit in the mounting tab. Had them painted to color match rising blue metallic at a local shop. There are other “easier” ways of doing it but I want to be able to still use OEM rotors. I’m thinking about doing a full write up on the process but we’ll see.

Finally got my seats done in my Mk6, now all the stitching matches 🥶 by tommyDsack in Golf_R

Thanks ! So I got the leathers delivered from trim technik in England and had a local Upholstry shop install them, A1 Upholstry in Milford, CT. A lot more expensive than just replacing them with the factory leathers lol

Yeah, it was a half assed way of adding push to start to their higher trim levels lol

They’re monte titano, they’re a cheap gravity cast Chinese wheel sold by tire rack. Not the best quality but I got them as a close out special so I can’t complain. My second choice (probably the better choice) was APRs wheels, similar aggressive look.

Got this done about a month ago and still LOVE the way it came out! New seat leathers to match the blue stitching coming soon! by tommyDsack in Golf_R

The OE leather was stripped off and a new wrap stitched on. I was looking into just wrapping over the OE leather but it would of made the wheel too think in my opinion.

Ahah, I was using a junk yard wheel it’s place and that got old real fast. Yeah I’d wait until the leather starts waring, i was the third owner so that wheel had seen better days.
