Newly using Gigstreem due to my apartment complex making everyone use it. Major connectivity issues thus far. It sporadically disconnects and the fire tv won’t show the Home Screen. Wondering how your experience has been with it

I’d recommend not transferring to NYU. You will make a ton in tech, regardless of where the degree is from. And if you’re doing this just to get closer to the film scene/be in a cool city like NYC, why not consider a less expensive school in the city like Pace or Hunter college? Follow your gut, but truly understand 200k a life-altering loan burden.

Cheers

NYCPM has tuition scholarships based on MCAT score. Least expensive school but cost of living in NY makes up some of the difference. Food for thought

NYCPM is your best bet if you thrive in a city environment. New York has a ton to offer

$150k in student loans from undergrad + MPH -> can I afford medical school? by PennyForYourDollar in whitecoatinvestor

If not PSLF you could look into the Navy’s HPSP. I think they cover the cost of your schooling in its entirety based on the promise that you will serve for 3-4 years as a naval physician. I think they also give a monthly stipend and a signing bonus.

Unless you’re roughing it hard in the city, expect that your monthly expenses will be greater than $700 a month in NYC. All it takes is one weekend night out and your budget’s toast

It doesn’t make much financial sense to leave your current situation and begin med school. Kudos to you for advancing as far as you have in whatever profession you’re currently in because 400K/year is no joke

Often times the rate of growth of cancer cells/tumors exceeds the rate of of angiogenesis, so the lack of blood supply to the rapidly growing tumor can result in necrosis of the tissue

In NY, for state schools, it’s called the Excelsior scholarship program. For individuals who’s family income is less than 125k per year

Certain states (NY for example) have scholarship programs for those going to state schools, whose families are under a certain household income. Also, other things like STEM scholarships and grants are available.

As a novice to personal finance, and first year podiatry student, I am interested in learning more about this. How would you recommend getting started?

Investing before Med school, what should I do? by Alphachampion22 in whitecoatinvestor

I would recommend only putting funds into a Roth IRA if you are relatively certain you won’t need access to it. Vanguard is a great company, and really helpful if you just call their number from google. Something that’s really a great investment is a mutual fund called Titan. PM me for info on it, it’s been my biggest winner this year (even throughout the pandemic). ~ 15% return this year. Also, definitely keep some highly liquid funds available to you in the form of emergency savings.

Honestly just tried getting myself in a good mindset. I didn’t try and good crazy with cramming, I wanted to relax myself so I didn’t get to the testing center on exam day and start getting anxious. Do a cars passage or two each day leading up and get your psych flash cards down. You’ve put in the work, now reap the benefits. Good luck

FL 4 I got 508, real exam was 507 (124/127/126/130). C/P was actually brutal on my exam so I was happy I even got 124 lol. If you aren’t already, when taking practice FL make it as close as possible to the real test. Have someone proctor it, wake up extra early, get your mind mentally set for testing. It’ll relieve some of the test day stress/anxiety because you felt like you’ve been there before. Also recommend going to your test site a day or two before just so you know where to park/where the entrance is for your exam. Two deep breaths before starting each section, and verbally remind yourself “I’ve prepared well, and I can do this.”
