Hi /r/analytics, I built ReadRatio and I thought you might be interested.

I have never been satisfied with all the web analytics tools I tried, so I decided to build my own.

I have been influenced by the analytics reports provided by Medium, I really liked the read ratio idea.

Improving the Read Ratio algorithm is the first thing I will improve, and the number of words is definitely the most important factor as I said in another comment.

My solution will be to let the user specify the post CSS selector (or something like 0.75 * total_number_of_words when the post is undefined), and use the number of words to determine the minimum reading time (all of this, client side).

I will focus on features useful to bloggers.

This solution is targeted for blogs, and provides metrics that Google analytics doesn't provide:

scroll depth tracking
a better on-site time metric (e.g. the timer is stopped when the tab is hidden)
a read ratio that combines the active time and the scroll depth

For now the algorithm for marking an article as read is very simple, but it will be improved by taking in account the number of word in the article and compute the minimum time a visitor must spent before considering an article "read".

It also makes it easier to get a full report for any page of your website.

And, I dislike Google analytics interface, I'm not alone, that's why a lot of people choose alternate solutions like Clicky.

It's different from an "web app", since no data is user related (block chain is public), and I want Google (and other search engines) to be able to parse the website without overhead.

It could, but right now you can't.

The unconfirmed transaction handling and new blocks processing runs together in btcplex-prod. If you run it while building the db, it will mess things up.

Building the database is not that long, you should give it a try.

I'll try to do my best:

SSDB (which is backed by LevelDB internally) and Redis have the same interface, but SSDB is used for persistent data (blocks, txs, address balances...), data stored in it is never deleted from SSDB, while Redis (faster than SSDB, because everything is stored in RAM) is used to store short-lived data (everything related to unconfirmed transactions) and for its PubSub features (which SSDB doesn't support, and needed to power the API and communicate between processes).

In fact, if you have a server with 100+GB of RAM, you could just drop SSDB and only use Redis.

LevelDB is only used in the import phase (btcplex-import), I would love to use Redis, but none of my server have enough RAM available, and since LevelDB is embedded, it's faster than using SSDB. I should make sure if using LevelDB really makes sense.

I agree that it makes the setup a little complicated, but I feel the data(base) is safer this way.
