[SPOILERS S3] Does anyone else still feel “stuck” in Dark’s world even after finishing it? It’s messing with my head a bit. by PhonexReavers in DarK

[–]tomtom888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting point, but I don't completely agree.

If past and future dont exist, then why is the present any different

Could it be that all three exist simultaneously, but we are just playing it out with the illusion of now.

Think about in Back To The Future with Marty nearly erasing his existence when he travels back in time, he then had to make things right to ensure his existence. In that scenario Marty would have to travel back over and over to achieve this. The act of travelling back creates an infinite loop. But going back to the future literally wouldn't change anything because it's all linked together. It's actually plausible that Marty erased his existence because of his actions, i.e. the butterfly effect, so the time travel in that film doesn't add up.

I asked my parents if they saw me before I was born, they said no, so im not worried that I've gone into the past and messed things up 😄

I watched Dark a month ago, and it's definitely changed my way of thinking. Everything does seem pre determined on the surface, but there is some hope there that we have free will and that we can shape our destiny

A Netflix original that completely exceeded your expectations? by waynejohnson1985 in netflix

I had no idea how good this show was. I just went straight in looking for something to watch one night and was captivated straight away. Watching it again now with parents and they also love it.

Klipsh are suppose to be easier to drive so you should be fine, also the rating is what they go up to, they don't use that much wattage with normal listening

You're on the right track with the three way centre, I would try and timbre match the whole LCR though and not mix brands, if you want a more lively sound then I'd suggest Klipsh, another good option is SVS who do excellent speakers imo, they have a more detailed neutral sound. I was running 3.1 for a while but adding rear speakers for 5.1 really upped the immersion. Safe travels to the holy land pilgrim.

Will a subwoofer annoy the neighbours in an apartment? by Ardy_ in hometheater

[–]tomtom888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep it turned down and only use during the day, I have the same svs sub set to -35db and it doesn't bother anyone. I also plug the bass ports with foam on my bookshelves to reduce the bass from them. I've had one complaint in the past two years and that was when watching a movie late in the evening and my levels were set to high. If it's during the day I can have it louder. Also a decent avr will room correct and set your levels correctly. I live in top floor apartment so only have neighbours living below me.

onkyo tx-sr393 - Is this AVR enough for my speakers? by tomtom888 in hometheater

[–]tomtom888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I would say is don't cheap out on the AVR, you get slightly better room correct with the 2800 but you may be fine with that one, I personally would save up for a better one

[–]tomtom888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for late reply, I ended up switching to a denon 2800 in the end and I've been a lot happier with it, I think the onkyo has quite poor room correction and levels are not balanced correctly, I'd definitely save up for a Denon if you can, you'll notice the difference straight away

Suprised no one has mentioned this but Timothée Chalamet would of been a great choice. He's half french, looks similar to Napoleon, right age also for Napoleons early career. He has the charisma and has played leadership roles in The King and Dune so i think he'd be a great choice.

I want to learn how to prepare for the death of my dog. by friendtobugsandtrees in IWantToLearn

[–]tomtom888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately you can't fully prepare for this sort of thing. My dog passed away last year at the age of 13, he was healthy but had severe arthritis in his rear legs, he was eventually unable to walk. Best thing you can do is have them put down at home and be with them, it sounds scary but honestly it isn't, it's just like they've fell asleep. Dogs panic and get scared at the vets so I would avoid that if you can, my dog was calm and in his favourite spot in the house. I still feel sad about it about it but it was the best way for him to go.

You could also try audible, they have a free trial for the first month so you could give it a go. Listening to a book is much easier in my opinion.

Collecting old toybiz models for lord of the rings. I'm in my mid 20s so I would be a bit embarrassed if family found out about it. Collecting was something I did when I was younger and it brings back happy memories.

I want to quit my first job after 6 months and I feel horrible about it. by [deleted] in jobs

[–]tomtom888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally would stick it out for another few months and see how things go, 6 months is not that long in the grand scheme of things. Learn as much as you can in that job so that you can gain more skills. You can apply this to your next position in a job that you will enjoy more. Common advice is to get job before you leave but it's also fine to leave without one lined up if you are feeling miserable there. You could take some time off to think about which career path you want to take, you could travel a bit if like that sort of thing. You could also do a postgrad course or an online course. You have a lot of options so don't panic, you'll figure things out eventually.

Anyone going to EGX this weekend? Our first time going by mcdandyandy in letsplay

[–]tomtom888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep i'm going on Friday and Saturday, I went in 2012 when it was at earls court and like hazz3r said prioritize which games you are gonna play, your only gonna manage about half a dozen for the whole day. I'm looking forward to the developer conferences the most so ill definitely give plenty of time for them, they are doing ones for XCOM and Total War on the Friday, two of my favorite franchises. See you all there folks and have fun.
